SAT prep

I want to start by saying this was the third SAT tutor we tried in a short time period to prep my daughter. The first my daughter felt moved too slow, and she recognized wouldn’t be of help after first session. Evan had 4 weeks to prep my daughter for SAT. She started out with a 1240. By her last practice test, she scored 1400. When it was time for the actual test, she said she found his tutoring so helpful. She mentioned there was a math problem she found difficult on actual test, she went back to it and remembered Evan did the exact type of problem with her and she remembered his words while solving it. She came out of SAT saying it was the easiest math section she ever had including all practices. She also mentioned when doing reading passages, he taught her a way to break down the passage and answer questions that was extremely helpful for the test. She feels he did an amazing job prepping her. She likes working with him and finds the sessions very helpful. Evan assigned homework which I felt took the pressure off of me to make sure she is preparing. He also set up quizzes based on what she needed guidance with. We highly recommend Evan.

Productive strategies and effective results!

Evan tutored my boys as they prepared for the ISEE. He quickly assessed their areas of strength and weakness and gave them tangible strategies and problem solving skills to work on. He was thoughtful and patient, but also kept a good pace. He worked through the problems and gave them nice summaries / next steps to use after the lesson. From these, they practiced the weak areas. Evan was instrumental in lifting my son's score 2 stanines after 3 sessions.

5-STAR TUTOR - PATIENT & RESULTS ORIENTED!

Evan worked with my child to prepare for the ISEE test, and he went above and beyond to arm my child with the tools and confidence to ACE the test! His initial diagnosis of the areas for my child to work on was spot-on, and he created a customized learning plan to tackle unclear and new concepts and reinforce areas of strength. His no-nonsense, get-to-the-point style worked well with my son. I cannot recommend him enough and will be working with him again in the future!

SHSAT tutor - brought grades up

Evan worked with my daughter every week for several months to help her prepare for the SHSAT. She was having some difficulty with certain sections (longer reading passages, geometry), which Evan was able to identify and work with her more closely on. He broke down practice tests into manageable sections, to allow her to carefully focus on the areas she needed more help with, while continuing to strengthen the areas she performed ok in, until she was doing 1/2 practice tests, and ultimately full practice tests. He helped her improve her practice scores from below the cut off for acceptance into any of the specialized schools, to above the cut off for Stuyvesant. Thanks to Evan, she took the test and felt confident with how she performed. Now, we just wait until March to get the results.

Terrific at ISEE Preparation

Evan has supported both of my children in preparing for the middle and upper ISEE over the years. We go back to him because he's thorough, prepared and helps them grasp the nuances of the material as well as the important "how-tos" of test-taking in general. Thanks, Evan!

Encouraging and goal-driven

Evan quickly assessed the areas of focus that would most increase my daughter’s ISEE scores and focused on these with her. He assigned relevant homework, ran drills, and maintained an encouraging stance that kept my daughter engaged and optimistic. He definitely knows the test, and is able to teach strategies not available in online courses or book studies. I highly recommend him.
