Hey there!
I have a Bachelor's degree in Math (& English!), a long history of working with students, and a passion for making seemingly difficult things actually quite simple. In my experience working in middle schools, extracurricular math programs, tutoring programs, and even educational camps for children with PTSD, I've learned one thing in particular: teaching is less about knowing math than knowing your audience.
There are countless people well-educated in math - this site is filled with them - but knowledge only takes you so far. I'm proud of my mathematical prowess, but I'm far more proud of my ability to empathize and communicate effectively with an individual. Nothing is better than helping someone achieve that lightbulb-going-off moment of understanding; I'd love nothing more than to help you get there!
As for experience, my past positions include: Middle School instructional support (2016), Director of Weekly Math Tutoring (2011-2012), One-on-One Peer Tutor (2013), Aboriginal Middle School HW Help (2014), and Instructor at Camps Abroad for kids with PTSD and Learning Disabilities (2011, 2012, 2016).
My standardized testing success includes the SATs (780 in math, 1580 overall), SAT II's (800 in math), and AP BC Calculus (Score: 5)
Additionally, I spent time in 2014-15 developing curriculum for an after-school math center in the Boston area (Studio of Engaging learning) for Elementary and Middle School math levels.
If you're interested, please don't hesitate to reach out - I'm looking forward to meeting you and can't wait to tackle any and all math-related queries! :)
