With over 2000 hours spent tutoring students in the last 3 years, I often hear comments like these: "She enjoys working with you!" and "His grades have improved!" I am experienced in working one-on-one with students in all elementary and middle school grades, as well as high school and adult students. The subjects I specialize in are elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra, and all aspects of language arts, such as writing, grammar, reading, spelling. I can work with students on school...

I am experienced in working one-on-one with students in all elementary and middle school grades, as well as high school and adult students. The subjects I specialize in are elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra, and all aspects of language arts, such as writing, grammar, reading, spelling. I can work with students on school assignments and projects, or I can provide material to help them master areas of difficulty. I can also help students to find clever ways to memorize and understand concepts.

My unique experience includes working with students in the classroom, as a private tutor, and as a homeschooling parent for 8 years. I like being creative and fun, while helping students to feel that they can do it!

Whether your elementary student struggles with math or is a gifted and talented math student, I can work with him or her to help your child continue to improve and master their math skills. I have spent hundreds or hours working with dozens of students on their math homework or extra practice work to challenge them and help build their confidence in math. Math doesn't have to be thought of as boring or difficult, when a student feels confident and able they will begin to enjoy math. If they are already a competent student, we can find ways to challenge and improve their skills.

I have taught children in 1st-3rd grade to read using a phonics program that breaks down words into sounds. They are taught to read using these sounds and can read virtually any word, whether it is a familiar word or not. I have worked with this program in a classroom setting and with small groups of children and individuals. I have taught children as young as 4 years old to read using this method.

Most students will work through a series of books covering all of these with me, but we can instead focus on whatever areas they need most, if preferred.

Great Tutor

Good Tutor

Our experience with Ms. Sheryl has been very limited and pleasant. We hired her only for a couple of sessions when there is time crunch. Unfortunately, before she adjusted to the schedule, our requirement came to an end. She is really a great teacher for elementary Math.
