I am currently working on my third book, Witches, Vampires, and Things That Go Bump in the Night. My undergraduate time at Goddard College instilled in me the difference between indoctrination, training, teaching, and "lecting". "Lecting" is the collaborative effort of professor and student to help the student become the person that they choose to be.

My professional career has including teaching positions at the George Mason University, the University of Maryland, and Johns Hopkins University. My expertise is in introduction to sociology, political sociology, and criminology. My non-teaching career includes: The Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention, the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice in Maryland as well as the Office of the Aging and the Office of Probation and Parole in New York City. I have also worked as a community organizer and was instrumental in Baltimore's effort to win and implement the $100,000 Empowerment Grant.
