I offer an excellent leg up or catch up to academic success. I'm an award-winning professor with expertise in helping students master academic reading and writing, as well as creative writing. My specialties include helping students get ahead, as well as those who need that bump to get up to and succeed at high school and college-level readiness.

Thesis therapist: I can offer a fresh look at your ideas - intellectual and written. From the outside I can help you work out your points, help you make sense of your points, and also make sure what you are writing makes sense to a reader. Help you ensure that your points come across to the reader coherently as you want to present them. A little like literary cognitive behavioral therapy that helps you arrive at your own unique understanding, with an ability to get it across.

I am writing a college textbook to be published next year. It will be for the first-year composition course, and critical thinking (argument writing).

I was also a competitive fencer who competed at the National and World Cup level. That fueled my love of studying the brain as it pertains to learning and performance. I also was a jazz saxophonist (my undergrad study was Musicology with an English minor). I also spent some time as a stand-up comedian!

I specifically studied Reading theory and teaching (a particular interest of mine), and have taught many reading courses in my over fifteen years of teaching. Even though I already have an MFA, a terminal degree akin to the PhD, I am also now in a doctorate program for curriculum and instruction to further build my skills. I am well-versed in and passionate about teaching students to read for comprehension (and to love it).

Brilliant writing expert and engaging tutor

I love my sessions with Angie! She brings a wealth of knowledge about writing and is a patient, experienced teacher. She helps me improve my writing and thought process in ways that are encouraging and fun. Angie is not only knowledgeable and extremely experienced, but she also brings wisdom and a sense of humor to her sessions that help me see ideas from a fresh perspective. Angie is helping me with my master's thesis in English literature, which is a monumental undertaking. She has helped me break down the project into smaller tasks, clarify my ideas, and frame the writing process so I can be organized and motivated. If you are looking for a tutor who can bring the perfect balance of expertise and humor, I highly recommend Angie! She will help you improve your writing by leaps and bounds. I am grateful I found Angie - she is a gem!
