I am a fourth grade teacher who has a lot of experience at the Elementary level. I've been teaching for 15 years and love every minute of it. While I have not tutored much, my knowledge of the classroom and the new common core standards make me an excellent candidate to work with your son or daughter. I am a fourth grade teacher who has a lot of experience at the Elementary level. I've been teaching for 15 years and love every minute of it. I understand the rigor that the common core expects students to navigate through and I can assure student success through caring, supportive, and individualized learning sessions with your child.

I believe in making students feel confident and comfortable in their learning experience to encourage them take academic risks that will pay dividends in the end. Forging a positive and trusting relationship will be key in helping your child succeed. In my classroom I introduce new grammar and mechanic skills weekly ensuring mastery and application of the concept before moving onto the next one.

I am certified by New York State as an Elementary teacher grades Pre-K to 6. I also hold a masters degree in Literacy and certified by New York State as a reading teacher grades K-12. Lastly, I am also certified as a School Building Administrator and School Building Administrator.

I have been teaching New York State Common Core for the last three years and have learned a tremendous amount about what is expected of both students and teachers. I am currently using Singapore Math in the district I work in, and have found success in helping students understand the "why" of mathematical processes.

I have taught both fourth and fifth grade science for the past 15 years. I understand what is expected of the fourth grade student with regard to NYS testing and more importantly in the classroom. While 5th grade science is not a "push" right now with new common core guidelines coming down the pike I pride myself in being up to date on all the changes in education at the elemntary level.
