I am a patient and flexible assistant helping you to learn these difficult subjects. Few people are aware of the challenge you are undertaking and some special help may make all the difference in your success.

I am retired from industry having worked in many functions involving Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance and Program Management.

The subjects are technical in nature and, as a Tutor, seeing problems solved is what students want. For an online session, I have my camera arranged so that you can see what I write and follow the solution as it progresses. The worksheets will be sent to you after the lesson so that you have reference material for your review. For "in-person" lessons, you can have the worksheets we created during the lesson.

I can help with mathematics including Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus I, II, III, & Differential equations. Physics I & II ranging from Newton's laws, Work and Energy, Conservation of Momentum, Fluid Mechanics, Harmonic waves, Electric and Magnetic fields, & Electrical circuits.

I am flexible in time and location and typically can respond to your need on short notice meeting you in a library or other public place. If you send specific questions to me over email, I will respond with the detailed solution, often in only a few hours or less. There is no charge for that type of help.

Sincerely
Steve

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I can be of help in this subject area creating example problems and showing methods to build understanding. Subjects areas include solving polynomials for the roots; equations for lines, parabolas, hyperbolas, circles, etc. Help with understanding graphs and word problems.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I can be of great help in this subject area creating example problems, showing methods to help understanding. Subjects areas include solving polynomials for the roots; equations for lines, parabolas, hyperbolas, circles, etc.
Calculus,

Calculus

Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, II, III are subject areas that I can help with. The understanding of Limits leading up to the definition of the derivative are critical to understand the basics of the Calculus. Later using derivatives to solve word problems including rates and some analytical geometry. Integral Calculus comes later using that to calculate areas and solve problems involving Newtonian physics. Calculus III involves multiple integrals and three dimensional vector calculus for those students pursuing Science and Engineering degrees.
Physics,

Physics

Physics is really a broad subject covering the laws of motion through the basic nature of matter. I am experienced and knowledgeable in: Newtonian physics, the laws of motion defined originally by Isaac Newton including the 1st, 2nd and 3rd laws covering Ballistics, Statics, Dynamics, Impulse & Momentum and, Fluid mechanics. Forces due to electric and magnetic fields including the work of Coulomb, Maxwell, Faraday and others. I am very familiar with electric circuits and the quantitative analysis associated with them.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I studied Differential equations as both Math courses as well as analysis courses in Electrical Engineering. I am most familiar with LaPlace transform method of solving linear equations. There are a lot of "tricks" involved that mathematicians have devised over the years and it takes practice to use them. I can help you solve problems creating examples for later reference.
Electrical Engineering,

Electrical Engineering

I hold a BSEE degree from University of Missouri and am a registered professional engineer in Missouri. I have worked as an Engineer and Engineering Manager and later as manufacturing and program manager roles for medical device companies. I can help you with active and passive circuit analysis problems using Node voltage & Mesh current methods as well as Ohm's and Kirchhoff's laws.

Short notice and thorough tutor

My daughter needed a tutor ASAP to prepare her for her first Physics test in college that was the next day. Steve was able to meet her on short notice and gave her a very thorough review of her study material. She passed her test and told me Steve’s tutoring definitely helped her do better than expected. Thank you!

Tutor responded:

Thanks for your kind words Ronald and I wish Lauren well. She knows I will answer "one off" questions or no charge anytime

Very patient, kind, and explained thoroughly!

Stephen took his time to go through the problems and answered all my questions. I felt very comfortable during the session and I now understand Physics more. This was my first time having a tutor but he made the experience not as scary as I expected. Thank you!

Excellent

I planned to work with Stephen for a couple hours at least. He explained problems in detail and made sure I understood the material. He was able to help me out in just 40 minutes. Highly recommend others to work with him.

Tutoring beyond the classroom :)

Worked on trigonometric substitutions and discussed applications of it. Very hepful and insightful. He gave me insight to the math and expectations in the work place.

great teacher, super patient

Amazing teacher, I was really struggling with circuit analysis but he explained things slowly and so much better than my professor did! I understood my homework perfectly by the end of the lesson

Quick response and very knowledgable!

Very happy to have found Stephen. His response to my inquiry was quick and he was able to meet with my son at the college library. My son was able to go over a variety of course work and said it was very apparent that Stephen was extremely knowledgable! His reviews speak for themselves - would highly recommend his tutoring services to anyone!
