My broad academic background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology from UCLA; as well as a TEFL/TESL certificate from UCI to teach non-native English speakers.
I have recently passed all three courses required for the California Real Estate licensure with a 4.0 GPA and I hope to extend my knowledge and passion for real estate to help others in passing the courses and taking the exam!

I believe that each student is unique and I will use methods best suited to one's individual needs. Learning can be fun and each person will adopt new habits for his or her future success. I try to encourage individuals to push the boundaries while giving positive feedback and words of encouragement.
I like to incorporate technology in study sessions to aid the learning experience through music, video shorts, and YouTube. I build trust and confidence within each person so the learning process can be most efficient.

I have extensive training from UCI where I was able to spend 200+ hours learning teaching methods for one-on-one and classroom settings. I have been trained on test-taking and different types of examinations including, but not limited to, TOEFL, SAT, ACT, GRE, STAR, multi-subject, single-subject, written, and oral tests; and I have created my own test preparation coursework and materials. I have experience with CA Common Core, AP classes & exams for World History, Art History, etc.
My clients inspire me every day through their hard work and determination- and I hope to inspire them to be confident. School and learning can be a challenge for many kids, teens, and adults. I hope to eliminate the fear and anxiety. Join me for life and learning adventures!
I can conduct group sessions for 2 to 4 students in K-12 (please message for more information).

As an Anthropology major at UCLA, I studied Linguistics and Speech Patterns in different communities all over the world, and also specifically in Los Angeles. I understand the basic structure of language, individual letters and phoneme structure. I have the patience to teach letters and sounds and how language is formed. I use techniques with the mouth, teaching students how to understand the different manners of articulation (fricative, voiced and non voiced, etc).

I am detail-oriented when it comes to preparing for tests or essays. I think that proper studying starts with note-taking in class, and relying on notes and readings to create study guides, flashcards, and memory exercises. I have tutored 6th-8th grade in multiple subjects and helped prepare them for standardized state exams and single-subject quizzes and tests.

Social Studies

I currently homeschool and tutor 2 students in Social Studies. We are currently working on World History, Ancient Civilizations and World History major themes leading up to the present. I create outlines with my students to help them organize main ideas and common themes and I try to have them relate this content to current themes or ones that repeat through time. I also try to use Art History, creative projects, and one-on-one discussion to hone in on specific goals.

I attended UCLA where I received my degree in Anthropology with a focus on social and cultural studies. I also took 4 classes where I studied the archaeology of cities in India and present-day America. One class focused on the rise of cities in industrialized nations and we looked at material artifacts to discern how people evolved culturally. I enjoyed learning about this aspect of Anthropology and feel qualified to be able to tutor students this subject.

Excellent writing tutor that keeps both my kids on track!

Erin is an amazing tutor. She has a warm, caring personality and both my kids (10 and 16) love her. We hired Erin to support my daughter in her honors high school literature class but Erin helps her stay on top of the written work in all of her classes. She is now also helping my son improve his writing skills because he found large written assignments to be intimidating. Both kids have benefited tremendously. She is an excellent communicator, totally reliable and an absolute professional.

Invested, Connected, and Provides Real Results!

Erin has been working with my 7th grader for about a year now. Middle schoolers can be difficult to reach, but Erin has established an amazing connection with Nolan and she is really invested in his progress as a student. She has worked with him to instill good study habits and teach him how to be a successful student. Since she started working with my son, his grades his steadily improved significantly. We are thrilled with her and the progress we see!

Boosted my daughter's test grade after one tutoring session

I couldn't be happier with Erin. My daughter went from a D on her test to a 78 after just one tutoring session. The test was even on a very difficult subject. Very happy with Erin.

Knowledgeable, positive and personable

Erin arrived on time and started the lesson right away. Erin communicated with my daughter in a clear voice that kept my daughter's attention. My daughter felt like Erin could relate to her thoughts and helped her to translate that onto paper. Erin helped with some brainstorming and study skills. My daughter definitely felt more confident in her writing after one lesson. The job is not done yet so Erin will continue to tutor my daughter for now.

Patient, humorous, knowledgeable and encouraging teacher

I am so glad that I was able to meet Erin as my son's tutor. My son really enjoyed his first lesson and he wants to learn from Erin continuously. Erin was able to understand my son while teaching him and figured out his strength and weakness which she thinks she can definitely help improve and make better.
