Hey! I am Ms. Lauren. I am currently a High School English teacher, I teach English I and III at Hanahan High School. I recently graduated Cum Laude from Appalachian State University with a degree in English, Secondary Education. My priority in teaching and tutoring is always student potential. No matter the subject or content, I believe there is the possibility for students to find connection and interest in whatever they may be working on.

One of my main goals is to always find a way to introduce each topic in an interesting and fun way. I find then when students can't personally relate to what they are learning, they become less invested. After introducing the topic, I walk students through each specific step and detail to ensure their comprehension of the task at hand. My final step in the tutoring process after providing examples and going over content with students is to ensure they have time to work independently. I differentiate each lesson and tutoring session based on student's individual needs and preferences. I have less than a year of experience in tutoring, however, as a recent graduate, I am equipped with the knowledge and skills to help different students no matter their level. I tutor my current students on a weekly basis before and after school to ensure their success in my classroom.

I have a special passion for English content, which can include anything from Dickinson to Shakespeare to The Hunger Games. I have always had a passion for reading and really understanding the perspectives from which authors write their novels. Analyzing character development and the author's craft is incredibly important in understanding the message each novel is sending.
