I have tutored students improving their language skills prior to taking the SAT, helped applicants write a "college essay" that gives a true picture of what makes them unique, and aided young professionals who wanted their resume to market them effectively as a unique candidate.

While the focus and products are different, what links my approach with professional writers, students in elementary school and those in-between is an emphasis on establishing communication goals. Let's figure out what exactly what you want to achieve and work together until you are happy with the results of how you are expressing yourself.

Study Skills

The key to good study skills is to find the resonance and relevance between the subject and the student. In my own pursuit of education and in work with students as a NY state certified teacher it is clear that anyone can cram data into their head that may or may not stay as long as an upcoming test. My goal in helping to improve study skills (by improving focus, note-taking, and time management) is to help students recognize that what they gain from timely preparation and active participation in their education is of much greater value to them than all the things they fear and think they dislike about the action of learning outside the classroom.
