I use an active learning plan during my tutoring lessons. In this teaching style, I identify the concepts that the students are struggling with, and I briefly revisit the lecture content. Then, I set up practice questions of increasing difficulty that address those specific concepts. The students will not be given the answers to the problems but will be guided to discover the correct answers themselves. This teaching style will allow them to master the material. What sets me apart as a tutor is that I have taken the classes listed above all in the past two years, and I excelled in each class. I mastered the material in my classes using my learning strategies, and I can help other students excel in their classes using the same techniques that were successful for me. My tutoring lessons are for undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in the classes that are listed above.
I am a Pre-Medicine student at Purdue University, and I am majoring in Biochemistry. I currently have a 4.0, and I am in the 100th percentile ranking in my Biochemistry class. I took both semesters of the Fundamentals of Biology, General Chemistry, General Physics, Introduction to Biochemistry, and Spanish 1-3 my freshman year. During my sophomore year, I took both semesters of Organic Chemistry, Cell Biology, Biochemistry Molecules, Anatomy & Physiology, Genetics, and Spanish 4. For my junior year, I took Biochemical Metabolism, Psychology, Sociology, and Spanish 5-6. I ended with an A+ in all semesters of General Biology, Organic Chemistry, Cell Biology, and Biochemical Metabolism. I ended with an A in the rest of my classes. I took these classes to master all of the science material for the MCAT. On the MCAT, I scored in the 90th percentile on the Psychology/Sociology section, the 96th percentile on the Biology/Biochemistry Section, and the 99th percentile on the Chemistry/Physics section.
