I am a graduate of Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Physics. I have completed a master’s and I am currently working on a Ph.D. in physics at the University of Vermont with an emphasis on Math, Chemistry, and Theoretical/Computational Physics. I love learning and work hard when teaching new things to my students. I not only want to help them learn their desired subject I want to show them how to become better learners in all aspects. It is my goal to pass my knowledge and experience in Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science to every student I meet. I take extra time to understand a student's individual needs and adjust my tutoring style to meet those needs. Every student learns differently, and I take every student as an opportunity to learn.
I tutored for all four years while I was getting my bachelor's degree and I was hired as a tutor for the university for two and a half years. I have continued tutoring professionally for more than 4 years for a grand total of 6+ years of professional tutoring experience and 8+ years of total experience. During this time, I acquired more knowledge and understanding of the subjects and students I tutored, and I developed the patience needed to tutor these potentially difficult subjects. I love to see students learn and I love to see a student finally understand something that they did not before. Passing on my knowledge is one of the greatest gifts I can give, and it is the way I make a positive change in the world. My teaching style revolves around creating a fundamental understanding of the material, fixing bad habits, and helping students avoid common pitfalls. I love giving students resources that I create and go out of my way to create those resources for students. I do not believe in the common teaching methods of memorization and doing things like a robot. I want students to think about problems and understand problems on a fundamental level so they can go on and do better in whatever they decide to pursue.

Elementary Math

I have a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Physics with a Minor in Mathematics. Elementary Math is very familiar to me and a core part of my mathematical background. I have tutored younger students for 6 months after i graduated college. However I have tutored for 4+ years and did so throughout my entire college career. I also had the Pleasure of working with Young kids when I volunteered for the Little Shop of Physics program for 3.5 years.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have a Bachelors in Physics with minors in both Mathematics and Computer Science. All of those fields are incredibly math heavy and require the constant use of Algebra to succeed. In addition I have 4+ years of tutoring experience tutoring Calculus and Physics. Both these subjects use Algebra as as one of the fundamentals. Due to this I am well versed in the topics of Algebra and their practical applications.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra II is one of the foundations for all of Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science. I am required to have a deep understanding based on my background. I have 6+ years of tutoring math and physics and Algebra II as included in that experience. Algebra II was the first subject I started tutoring and have continued tutoring to this day.
Calculus,

Calculus

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Biophysics with applications to Advanced Mathematics. My Work as a Research assistant requires the constant use of advanced calculus to succeed. In addition, I have 6+ years of tutoring experience tutoring Calculus and Physics. Calculus and Physics were my most tutored subjects in college for students of all backgrounds, majors, and levels.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

Theoretical Biophysics is the blending of Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, and Organic Chemistry. I didn't specialize in chemistry as an undergraduate but I started tutoring chemistry during my last years as an undergraduate. I gained much greater experience when I joined the Biophysics Research Program. I had to take courses in chemistry and molecular dynamics and my research project required me to learn about advanced theoretical chemistry and thermodynamics. My experience as a physicist also gives me extensive experience in the quantum mechanical aspects of physical chemistry. I approach chemistry from the perspective of a mathematician and a physicist and that changes the way I solve problems and find solutions. Rather than doing things procedurally, I think deeply about them to give them a simpler and more approachable foundation.
Geometry,

Geometry

I have a Bachelor of Physics with minors in both Mathematics and Computer Science. Geometry is one of my favorite subjects and a subject I pursued heavily while getting my minor in mathematics. Differential Geometry, Complex Analysis and other subjects are all heavily based on geometry and extending it. With my background I have a deep understanding of geometry and how it connects to other subjects. I have 4+ years of tutoring experience in mathematics and geometry is one of my strongest subjects.
Physics,

Physics

I am a physics Ph.D. Candidate with a focus on Theoretical Physics. This experience has honed my skills and developed advanced problem-solving techniques across various disciplines. I work as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant. I served on the Active Learning Design team for the Physics Department at my University where I helped design courses and training for all the other TAs. Additionally, while I was in the Physics Department at my alma mater I helped Manage the Teaching Laboratories for Undergraduate physics students. This required intimate knowledge of physics Experiments. I have 8+ years of tutoring experience in physics with formal tutoring through the physics department for 2.5 of those years and I have been teaching on Wyzant for 4 years and working as a Teaching Assistant at my University for 2 additional years.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I have a Bachelor in Physics with a Minor in mathematics and Minor in computer Science. The topics covered within pre-algebra are at the core of all of those subjects and are topics i am intimately familiar with. I have 4+ years of tutoring experience for math and physics and pre-algebra was not an uncommon subject that was requested for our non-major physics students. This was especially true for art, medical and business majors.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have a Bachelors in Physics with a minor in Mathematics. Precalculus is one of the fundamentals fields of mathematics that I know very well and have a solid foundation of. The ideas of Precalculus begin in introductory physics courses and continue when the student is preparing to take calculus. I have 4+ years tutoring physics and calculus and inevitably Precalculus was a subject that regularly needed reinforcing or reviewing because students often forgot those ideas and that would make physics and calculus harder unless it was reviewed.

A very caring and passionate tutor.

I met Andrew about a year ago through Wyzant through a classmate that recommended this young man. I was skeptical at first, due to this being a virtual interaction and the complexity of the subject we were learning. I was coming into our first tutor session very intimidated by math and even more scared of word problems. If you know anything about physics, their are two certainties, lots of math and tons of word problems! Andrew and I met at least three times a week and when things were really hectic we would get together for additional days. Andrew had the ability to tailor a program designed where I could understand conceptually what was going on from a real high level. Additionally he would work on my math skills which enabled me to gain confidence in tackling some of the physics word problems. As the months went by, my confidence began to grow and I was doing these physics problems on my own. Andrew has certain innate abilities such as patience, charisma, passion and desire to get the very best out of his students. He also will be able to evaluate each prospective student and build a plan around their strengths and work hard on their weaknesses. I feel that as a person, Andrew is very special. The Wyzant platform is very fortunate to have this man. I will miss our meetings every week very much. I am no longer intimidated by math and word problems. I now have a method to work through these types of challenges and will forever remember these strategies moving forward in my life. Thanks again, Daniel
