My experience in teaching dates back 30-plus years. After a degree in French (and one year studying in Paris), I briefly taught French at LSU. After obtaining an MBA and a CPA certificate, I began teaching accounting at the University of New Orleans in 1983 -- 30 years this fall!

In the interim, I obtained a law degree and worked for a large local firm and for a large corporation. I have continued to teach at UNO on an intermittent basis, and currently teach accounting, finance, law and ethics in its graduate engineering program - something like an MBA for engineers.

Because I teach so many international students, and because I remember the obstacles of becoming fluent in a second language in another country, I am interested in teaching English as a second (or foreign) language. I am currently pursuing certification as an ESL teacher. In the meantime, I would like to begin tutoring, and feel fully qualified to begin. I understand the need to encourage conversations in English, work through mistakes, and have fun in the process!

I enjoy cooking, reading, traveling (mostly to France!), and am an ardent pet lover. I achieve the most professional satisfaction from teaching, and thus I choose not to practice law or accounting, but strive for teaching opportunities.

Great tutor!

Linda tutored me in principles of accounting. I was pretty lost before I went to see her, but Mrs. S. really helped me to understand the information. She was very patient with me, and she helped me to cover a lot of information and truly understand it. I went from failing the first test to getting a B on the final. Thanks again!

Patient and Interested!

Linda is amazing with my 7 year old! My daughter is interested and excited about learning French, but so is Linda! She is a patient and knowledgeable tutor, but she is passionate about French and is a life-long student herself. Couldn't ask for a better fit for my daughter.

Patient and knowledgeable

I think reaching out to Linda was one of the best academic decisions I could have made. I have a better grip on the material now and look forward to our next meetings. She's the best!

Great tutor!

Working with Linda has been terrific. I'm getting so much more out of my class by working with her. My grades have sustained, and she is a joy to work with. Linda is also very flexible in working with me and setting up meeting times that work well with my busy schedule. I highly recommend Linda!
