I have tutored both of my children for 10 years. My oldest just graduated from high school with honors, and my younger child has progressed through the first seven years of grade school achieving nothing less than an 'A.'

Their success is not entirely attributable to me. However, I believe that a solid supplemental, at-home routine where we work together helps fine-tune what is taught in school. Just a little effort each day is what kept my children ready for daily classroom lessons. My goal is to get a student to ask a question relating to 'what's next?' rather than 'what just happened?'

My professional background includes banking and software. I sold a successful business I started in 1999. In each position, I eventually evolved into a role where I trained all levels of employees in the various aspects of their work.

Additionally, I provide tutoring to a few children of close friends and family. I realize everyone approaches a subject with a certain level of enthusiasm and ability. I adjust the rate of tutoring accordingly and maintain an approach of constant patience and understanding.

Traditional education seems to stand in the way of itself. Larger classroom sizes, insufficient accountability standards and an institutional approach does not fully prepare a student for the future. Understanding a subject and being prepared to solve problems is what helps provide a solid foundation.
