In today's society, receiving a good education is a pivotal step to reaching your life goals. As a motivator, a trainer, and as a person who leads by example, I take pride into helping, educating and encouraging others who need my advice or assistance. In addition, I am also a good listener for those who need a good listening ear. One way that I help others is to tutor math students; from children who are in their early grade school years, to young adults seeking a higher education. I may not be a teacher or an educator by trade; however, my communication skills and my expertise with assisting others in need, along with my math skills, are more than sufficient to help a student improve his or her grades in mathematics.

During my years in the banking industry, I have acquired customer service and communication skills and I also learned to train and educate co-workers, internal and external customers on various processes and procedures. These skills are vital in tutoring students, especially a subject where many students struggle with. I started my tutoring business in 2012, and use the same approach when communicating with students and parents about providing assistance in the subject. Now that my tutoring business has become a full-time practice, I am able to provide the personal touch that a student needs to learn and eventually master this subject we call mathematics.

During my grade school years, I excelled in mathematics. In 8th grade, I was introduced to Algebra I, and finished my grade school days taking Trigonometry and Functions, in which I achieved grades of a B+ or higher. In my junior year in high school, I scored in the top 15 percent nationally in math on my SATs. During my two years at Howard University, I took Calculus, which was a little more challenging, but it sharpened my math skills to a greater extent.

In my adult years, as I gained experience in dealing with people from a personal and business standpoint, I helped family members and friends with their math problems as a courtesy.

I currently tutor students in Elementary math, from 1st to 6th grade. When tutoring a child that is currently in grades kindergarten through 6th grade, I test the child's skills in the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). If there is a weakness in calculating any of those operations, I have the expertise to help the child improve his or her math grade. With a young child, a tutor has to show patience, because a child can: 1) get easily distracted by his or her surroundings, and 2) young children tend not to learn a process as quickly. My credentials prove that I am more than capable of tutoring a young child in Elementary Math.

FIRST LESSON SUCCESS-MY GRANDSON WANTS ANOTHER LESSON

Mr, Rodney L is the BEST! My grandson HATES math and really struggles with it. This was his first lesson, and at the end of the lesson my grandson came to me and said "I get to have another lesson with Mr. Rodney" THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Mr. Rodney L is a very patient tutor. My grandson at first was very apprehensive as his regular 2nd grade teacher does not take the time to explain the concept and he is reluctant to ask for help because of the reaction he gets from the teacher. BUT Mr. Rodney gained my grandson's trust with his patience. I am thankful and looking forward to more lessons and even more excited that my grandson is looking forward to them. I know in time he will gain mastery over the concepts he struggles with. Thank you MR. RODNEY L.

Rodney is 911 for math assistance

My daughter stated his explanations are comprehensive and he breaks down the information in a way she can easily understand it. His patience is another plus.

Great tutor!

So far so good, and we're very happy with Rodney. He's knowledgeable, responsive, and very intuitive, and has already identified many of my son's tendencies or learning gaps after only two classes. My son is working well with Rodney and I feel that he's in very good hands.
