While teaching Physics in Graduate School, I quickly realized that every student learns and is able to absorb information in a different way. I found that most students who struggled to comprehend my lessons in the classroom would inevitably understand the subject matter once we had one on one time during office hours. I needed that time to discover the disconnect between the lesson and how it was perceived and interpreted by the individual student.
To this end, tutoring has been a way for me to help students who have difficulty dealing with the cookie cutter approach to teaching that occurs in many school systems. One on one time with a student allows me to gauge how they retain or understand the material. I can adjust my delivery to suit each individual learning style for maximum benefit.
I will work with the student to find a location that allows the best environment for learning. I am very flexible with scheduling and although I do have a 24 hour cancellation policy, I will allow rescheduling.
I have taught math classes in preparation for the ACT, SAT and GRE test since leaving graduate school as well as tutored students from Middle School to Undergraduate University level. I worked for 13+ years in the Semiconductor industry and continually trained and taught high level math to new employees and coworkers.
I have a Bachelor's and Master's in Physics with an emphasis in Astronomy and Astrophysics. During graduate school, I taught multiple undergraduate physics classes as well as tutored 5-10 students per quarter.
After 13+ years, I left the semiconductor industry to pursue a career in photography. Overlapping with my engineering career and continuing to consult for analytical laboratories afterward, I have been a professional stock photographer for the last 17 years. I have led instruction in all areas of the photography field over the la
