As a previous professional counselor & minister, my style of teaching is, so I'm told, "a lot of fun." Plus, I've had to learn most of what I'll be teaching my students the hard way - by myself. So I understand the mental hoops and difficulties you might be experiencing. I've been there. I'm not a kid, and I don't speak "Geek" unless you can handle the lingo. I'm 55 years old. So I understand the mental hoops and difficulties you might be experiencing. I've been there. I'm not a kid, and I don't speak "Geek" unless you can handle the lingo. I'm 55 years old. I've founded four successful businesses in my lifetime. Those who have lived in Ridgecrest since before 1995 will remember Fedcom Computer Center - the year I sold the company we did 4 million dollars in sales and service here in Ridgecrest.

Since I sold Fedcom, I've owned Image First Multimedia in Bend, Oregon. The company produced magazine ads, billboards, video commercials, product DVDs, websites, and web marketing campaigns for hundreds of companies in Central Oregon.

I've returned to my hometown of Ridgecrest for a much needed reunion with my family. But I'm still having fun in business and being creative. If you want to learn without intimidation or embarrassment and if you want to get your creative juices flowing at the same time, give me a shout.

Photography is a critical element in any marketing situation. No amount of canned media from Getty Images will fill the bill. If you are a professional in marketing you must know how to use a digital camera, lighting, angles, and content, or have someone on your staff who does understand all these elements. I've learned to do things with photography few know how to do, like tri-exposure images, utilizing Photoshop and third party plug-ins, to create unbelievable images. Tri-exposure images means you shoot one image at normal exposure, then one two stops over and another two stops under. This allows you to get all the shadows and highlights into a photograph you'd NEVER be able to get with a conventional photograph. On top of that, this allows you to enhance photographs in ways until a few years ago, no one could. The final product can be extraordinary, absolutely stunning.

Video Production

In 2000, I was hired to do video production for a TV Show called "Hunting in God's Country," a nationally syndicated TV show featuring hunting in America's Publicly Owned Lands. After two years, using Final Cut Pro, I got pretty good at it, and I learned to use Adobe Premier as well. I continued to create commercials, using animation software, integrating still photography with pans and zooms, and of course text effects. I've learned that it is too easy and tempting for amateurs to overuse special effects in commercials - the result is a too busy and amateurish final product. Less is more in 30 or 60 second spots.

Marketing

When I sold my computer store in 1995, I created a marketing company in Bend, Oregon using all the Adobe products I'd learned to use while marketing my company from 1990 to 1995. I was proficient in Photoshop, and excelled in using it's filters, and developing new filters through macros. I became an Adobe Power User Answer man by 2000, and was featured in Adobe magazine. I also wrote many articles for other magazines and was a guest speaker at conferences on the subject of "Media in the New Millennium. My customers in Bend Oregon sold over $125 Million Dollars in products as a direct result of my national and international marketing campaigns. I think results speak for themselves.

Public Speaking

I was trained back in the early 1980's as a minister, a preacher. Talk about fear and nerves. But I became used to it, and I began to enjoy public speaking. I did public speaking tours on the subject of Dating & Marriage for a few years. When I went to work for two Fortune 500 companies, they elected me to host the seminars and the annual meetings, because I was a natural at hosting such events, with humor, intensity, and results.

Desktop Publishing,

Desktop Publishing

I have been a professional desktop publisher for 25 years, beginning with Ready Set Go - and now I use Adobe In Design. The evolution has been exciting to be a part of. I was also and Adobe Power User Answer Man in the early 2000's. I've been an experimental test user of many iterations of their new software releases. I employed seven power users, and I was their go-to boss whenever they faced a challenge. I helped Apple develop new versions of Quicktime Pro as a user/developer for years. I can answer MOST questions as I still use Adobe products daily in my video production business.
Macintosh,

Macintosh

I have been using Macs since 1991. I was an avid PC user, but I sold computers, mostly Macs, to a government base that was almost exclusively Mac. Once I discovered the power of the Mac, I never looked back. I use Macs for everything now. From Microsoft Office to Adobe's Creative Suite, to Apple's Final Cut Pro. While I still use PC's for programs Apple doesn't support, there is no other platform I would prefer to use.

Web Design

I am qualified in HTML, many obsolete programs (Flash, GoLive), and in Adobe Dreamweaver. I have dabbled in JAVA and JAVASCRIPT. My websites, and utilizing specialized tracking software, have resulted in more than $125 million in sales for my clients over the last decade. I have opted out of the ever bleeding edge of web development software - my qualifications as an expert expired about 2011 after I decided I hated being in college every day trying to keep up with the ever changing market - especially the integration of social media. I kept up with Facebook until about 2013, and then I discontinued staying on top of the social media scene. It's alive and active, I know what works and what doesn't, but every few months the entire interface and public offering changes, so I am probably out of the loop when it comes to their very latest media integration and their forms and content input engines.
