I graduated magna cum laude from Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC with a major in Art History and a minor in Not-for-Profit Management. Several years later, I returned to Salem College for K-12 teacher certification and graduated with distinction with Master's in Teaching English as a Second Language. My graduate program required coursework enabling me to be able to teach reading, writing, listening, and speaking in virtually any subject K-12.

I have successfully taught and tutored in public and military sponsored schools, with students from diverse cultural, language, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I recently retired from the classroom, but continue to love helping students discover their learning potential.

I am widely read in many academic areas. My natural inclination, as well as my professional training, enables me to find ways to succeed in conveying information to students so they create their own sound understanding through building the background needed for specific content learning.

I love science, and continue to update my knowledge as new theories and discoveries develop. I was required to take at least three science courses with two labs; chemistry, biology, computer science. Reading, understanding, and writing specific science content language is a large part of scientific knowledge acquisition.
