Elementary math is the foundation for learning higher math in the later grades. I currently tutor students K-8 helping them with multiplication, division as well as fractions. Students need to know how to apply these skills to real world situations, and I have the resources to help any student.

A typical lesson would first include about 5 minutes of what I call mental math. These are math problems that are meant be done just in your head not on paper. For instance what is 1/4 of 1000. What is 1/2 of 6000. Then several minutes reviewing previous homework from the week. Then moving on to focusing on what is due the next day and what type of skills will be important for recalling previously taught formulas that will be critical to solving problems presented in class.

Robert Gets Great Results

Robert has been tutoring my 4th grader for several weeks. I couldn't be happier with my son’s progress as a result of Robert’s tutoring skills. I am extremely impressed by Robert’s preparedness for each session. He clearly takes time ahead of the tutoring sessions to create a plan very specific to my son’s needs. Robert is able to take class material and teach my son by relating the material to topics my son is more interested in. Robert has always been on time, prepared, and is really able to engage my son in both math and reading comprehension. The results of Robert’s work is irrefutable as my son earned an A- on his last test.

Excellent final prep help

Robert helped my daughter prepare for a geometry final exam and working with him made her much more comfortable going in to the exam. The tips he shared with her really helped.

As a tutor, Robert is an 11 out of 10!

Robert was a great help tutoring our son for the SSAT recently. He was having trouble with the verbal section of the exam, and Robert’s knowledge of techniques and tips for the reading comprehension and analogies sections dramatically improved his score. Our son was already strong in math, but Robert also gave him some strategies for capturing even more points. Robert was thoughtful and patient and interacted well with our 12 year son. We recommend him highly!

Personable and organized

My son's first meeting with Robert went well. He met my expectations with trying to get a good idea where my son's baseline is for subjects on the SSAT. We look forward to his second session.

Knowledgeable, immediate results

Robert took the time to get to know my son and apply his interest to my sons learning. Accomplished results on the first session. Scheduled follow up appointments right away.

Related so we'll to my son

My son has a math mental block: he gives up before he tries. Amazingly, Robert spent the first moments of our first lesson to gain a detailed understanding of my son's school environment, and what causes him to block math out, which allowed him to tailor his delivery. My son was then taught with all barriers broken down, and has called Robert his favorite teacher. Impressive, and money very well spent!!

Great tutor!

Robert is an awesome tutor. He has been helping me prepare for the teas exam. I am an adult student and have a very hard time with math. Robert is very patient and the sessions I have had with him have helped out tremendously. He is always on time to our lessons. He is also very great with scheduling and flexibility. There was a few times where I had to reschedule and he was very understanding. Robert is very professional and always comes prepared to lessons with various learning tools. I'm very happy I chose her as my tutor.

Fun and great with my middle school son!

Robert has a good energy that translates well when working with my middle school boys. His methods to help my son focus on math and science really have worked well. In fact, we're considering adding a second tutoring session during the week if he can fit it in his busy schedule. I highly recommend Robert! UPDATE: I feel compelled to update this review from a couple of years ago because of the outstanding success that Robert has helped bring about with our 14 year old son. The transformation from a struggling, distracted, and frustrated student to one who regularly makes honor roll and who was recently awarded 8th grade student of the month, is amazing! Robert's energy and dedication has help boost our son's confidence in test-taking, essay writing, and math. Robert also takes time to ask how our son is doing and what is going on with school, even outside of homework. He is a mentor and a champion that is in our son's corner, coaching him on in academics. You can't overstate the value of something like this. The only downside is that we once thought we wouldn't have to pay four year college tuition bills. It now looks like we will. Ha!

Robert is very patient and understanding of my daughters challenges. Looking forward to more sessions to help her build her skill set.
