Hi there! My name is Susan Ardila and I am a highly experienced private and small group virtual tutor, specializing in completely individualized sessions for students of all ages and backgrounds, from Kinder through High School Pre-Cal. One of the advantages of my tutoring is that it is all done virtually, so no need to worry about driving to tutoring sessions on time! I have a particular passion for Math, but also provide tutoring in all content areas as well as test prep like STAAR, PSAT, ACT, SAT, Accuplacer, etc.

Last year, 100% of my students showed significant growth, with all of them earning As in Math by the end of the year, except for one B. This is one of my proudest accomplishments and I am determined to keep achieving similar results for my future students.

I am a Summa Cum Laude graduate from Texas A&M University, where I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, concentrating in Early Childhood Education. After a few years in an elementary public school classroom, I decided to pursue further education and graduated with a 4.0 GPA from the University of Texas, with my Master's in Education in Curriculum and Instruction. My concentration was in Math Education K-12, and I have since been a Mathematics teacher for over ten years. My experience includes teaching Elementary Math, Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Pre-AP Mathematics, Algebra 1&2 (including honors), Pre-Cal, and SAT Mathematics (Reasoning and Subject Level tests).

I have even mentored Student Teachers in College, written the entire 6th grade Math curriculum for a district, and tutored students preparing for AMC 8/10 Math Competitions.

Being a tutor is not just a job for me, it is a passion that feeds my soul. I love being a part of my students' success and helping them achieve their fullest potential in a supportive, fun, friendly, professional, and confident environment. So, let's work together and make Math (or any subject!) more manageable and enjoyable!

Common Core

Prior to Covid, I had only worked with our Texas Standards, TEKS. However, being able to tutor virtually has allowed me to work with students across our entire nation. This past year, 95% of my students were in districts that followed Common Core, so naturally, I had to ensure I knew all of my standards inside and out, as well as the numerous ways students would be assessed. My students ranged in ability levels from 1st grade all the way up through High School pre-Cal. I am proud to say that every single one of my students showed progress this past year with all of them earning As by the end of the year in math, except for one B, and I am so proud of that B.

I have both my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies concentrating in Early Childhood Education and my Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction concentrating in Math Education K-12. I have over 11 years of experience in the education field and began my teaching career in a 3rd grade Science and Social Studies classroom while mentoring the entire campus as Campus Science Facilitator and mentoring university student teachers and tutoring in English/Language Arts and Math before moving on to teach Math and Science in a 3rd grade classroom. I have also worked with students in all grade levels, mainly in math but I've been tutoring in English/Language Arts as well, from 1st grade up thru High School Pre-Cal and am proud of the fact that every single one of my tutoring students showed progress this past school year with all of them earning an A in math by the end of the school year, with the exception of one student who earned a B and we are all so proud of that B. I am also certified in all content areas in EC-6th grade.

I earned my Master of Education from The University of Texas with a 4.0 GPA and began my teaching career teaching science and social studies on an elementary public school campus. My first year went so well, that by the begininning of mhy second year of teaching, I weas asked to run the Science Lab and be our Campus Scienec Facilitator. Science and Math were always my favorite subjects when I was in school, so being Capus Science Facilitator was more than just a little fun for me. I facilitated the correct implementation of our hands on science curriculum and even facilitated and executed the relaunch of our annual science fair. Oh, and did I mention, Science Fair! I also wrote all of the common assessments from my teachers/students in grades K-5, so I am more than well versed with elementary science curriculum and would love to get your student in their path to success with a qualified tutor. I am also a certified teacher in all content areas in EC-6th grade.

Because I can be hyper or my mind can go a million miles a minute, I have learned to utilize that and have it manifest into my super engaging lessons. This is how I try to teach my students to manage themselves as well. Do not let your "uniqueness' get in your way but instead, use it for all its woirth.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my career is being able to reach students from all backgrounds with all different ability levels. In graduate school, I completed my research and drafted my thesis on Accommodating Students with Autism in a General Mathematics Classroom. This is why I completely individualize each of my sessions, because no two students are ever the same nor do they learn the same way. And I have been lucky enough to work with students with various special needs such as ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia, and other learning differences and am proud to say that I still know everyone can be successful since I have witnessed it throughout my career. I am also certified in all content areas in EC-6th grade and specifically in Math grades 4-8.
