I have a PhD in bioinformatics and computational biology from Boston University, and an undergraduate degree in computer science and neuroscience from the University of Toronto.

I've taught undergraduate introductory statistics classes at Boston University (MA213; co-instructor) and Lesley University, and am an Adjunct Instructor at Columbia University teaching Machine Learning. I have also worked as a teaching fellow in biology (human physiology) and various Computer Science classes, and in high-school biology classrooms as an NSF GK-12 teaching fellow.

Professionally, I work in data science and computational biology, and have extensive experience using and teaching Python and R for statistics and machine learning. I can also provide help with learning and applying LLMs and other modern AI approaches.

I also have experience and interest in teaching stats to non-math majors, as many of my students have to take stats as a requirement for life sciences or psychology programs.

In computer science, I'm most fluent in Python, but also know C, C++ and Java. I also have expertise in most aspects of bioinformatics and computational biology, applied statistics and machine learning, general molecular biology and genetics, and biochemistry.

My undergraduate degree is in Computer Science, and included numerous courses that used both C and C++. I have over a decade of experience in scientific computing, and have often used C++ for applications where performance is an issue. I've also had some experience with writing C++ GUI applications using the Qt framework.
Computer Programming,

Computer Programming

I've completed a PhD in Bioinformatics at Boston University, and a B.Sc(Hon) in Computer Science and Neuroscience at the University of Toronto. I have over 15 years of experience as a programmer in academia and industry, and have worked with many different languages, including Python, C++, Java, and R. I've been a teaching fellow and instructor for introductory courses in computer science and bioinformatics at Boston University, and have worked as a tutor with many computer programming students taking both introductory and advanced courses.
Computer Science,

Computer Science

My undergraduate degree (B.Sc(Hon), 2001) is in Neuroscience and Computer Science (double major) at the University of Toronto, and have taken graduate courses in machine learning and computer architecture, and I have over a decade of professional experience in scientific programming and web development (with Python, C/C+, and Java, primarily). As a graduate student at Boston University (in Bioinformatics / Computational Biology) I've worked as a teaching fellow for Introduction to Computer Science (CS111) and Intro to Internet Technologies and Web Programming (CS103), as well as the co-instructor for the computational lab section of Intro to Statistics (MA213). Through these classes, I've acquired experience teaching computer science and programming to both CS majors and non-majors.
Python,

Python

I have an undergraduate degree in computer science and have worked in and taught Python programming for over 8 years. I have experience applying Python to web development (e.g. CherryPy, Flask), basic intro CS and programming, databases, and scientific / biological data analysis. I have particular expertise in using Python for data analysis and working with the PyData Stack including Pandas, NumPy, StatsModels, Matplotlib, and networkx, and in constructing statistical graphics and interactive visualizations.

I have taught introductory statistics classes as an adjunct instructor at Lesley University (CMATH2142) and Boston University (MA213). I've worked both with science / math majors and students from other disciplines with less math background. These courses have included work with statistical software including R/RStudio and JMP (and I have a passing acquaintance with many other stats / data analysis packages such as Tableau, SPSS, and SAS). I have a decade of experience doing analysis, statistics, and visualization of complex scientific data in industry and academia. I can help with most data analysis topics including linear models and regression, ANOVA, machine learning, etc.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Adrian was very helpful in R language programming. He helped me with challenging problems that required R to resolve. I learned a lot and I would definitely go to him if I had questions again. Highly recommend.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor!

Adrian is helping me learn R for a class that is using projects that are not necessarily something others not in the class would understand but he is fantastic!

Really helpful!

I went in to the session with an analytics approach that I needed help with. Adrian was candid about the direction I was going in and steered me in the right direction. Very much appreciated!

R and Bioinformatics Guru

Adrian is an excellent R and bioinformatics tutor. Adrian can help if your R syntax is weak or if you are struggling with complex bioinformatics concepts. Since he understands the material, he is able to dive straight into the problems with little background information, making the most of the tutoring session.

Knowledgeable and efficient tutor

I've had 3 lessons with Adrian so far. I'm new to Python and programming and he helps me when I get stuck on a problem/concept. He is very efficient and polite. So far we have not encountered anything that he couldn't help me with so I'm rather pleased with the value I'm getting out of the lessons.

Knowledgeable

I’m a graduate student who is working on a large data analytics project. Adrian answered all of my questions and helped me think through useful scenarios that related to the project. The session was very helpful and I would recommend Adrian to anyone working on projects using Python or R.
