Bio

As a master tutor for over 15 years, online and in person, I would love to be able to help you achieve your next level academically. For a couple of years, I have been awarded as a top tutor with Wyzant. Working with students is my passion, success is my goal. While attending FSU in Tallahassee I had the great priviledge of living abroad in Florence, Italy. During the six months there, I was able to study art history from the birthplace of the Renaissance. After that I also studied art history in Paris, London and New York City. I obtained my BFA from the University of South Florida and entered their Master's program in painting/printmaking. I also have a degree in Cultural Anthropology that gave me the opportunity to study aboriginal art and cave art. The study of art history is the study of the voice of a culture, how that culture views itself and its existence. If you need help with this field of study, I would welcome the opportunity to help.

Since pre-teen years I have drawn and painted and won awards. The love of painting and art grew and I pursued it at Florida State University to receive it as a minor. I travelled and lived in Paris,France, Florence, Italy and New York City learning of the great Masters and viewing and studying original artwork. The love of painting grew so much that I pursued and obtained a BFA at the University of South Florida and entered their Masters program. I won best of show in painting at their Fine Arts Student show and received a years scholarship to continue studying art. Acrylic, Oil and watercolor are my favorite painting media. Absolutely Fabulous!!!

My daughter has been using Ms. Deborah for a year now. Ms. Deborah has been able to get my daughter to understand high school chemistry. That is amazing! (Really amazing!) Ms. Deborah is now filling the holes left by her physics teacher so that my daughter is understanding and learning high school physics. At a public high school of 2500 kids you don't get a choice in the teacher you are assigned. My daughter is smart, but the high school teachers are not teaching the subjects in a way that lets her understand the concepts. The high school teachers are not available for tutoring even when the student asks for it. Ms. Deborah picks up where the public teacher leaves off. My daughter is learning these subjects regardless of the high school teacher assigned to teach the subject. I am SO HAPPY we met and have been able to use the services of Ms. Deborah. As an added bonus Ms. Deborah teaches SAT and ACT testing skills. My daughter was having trouble with the writing section of the test. Ms. Deborah worked with her on it, and the next test my daughter's score went up 70 points!!!

My 16-year-old needed help with Chemistry and Algebra. Deborah was flexible and accommodating to do whatever she needed during each lesson. She needs a slower pace to really grasp math concepts and Deborah was the first tutor (since 3rd grade) that she felt went a good pace for her. This in turn lowered her anxiety about having a tutor and she was finally actually willing and ready for each session.

Helped to understand the WHY

My student knew a little about how to get the answers prior to her tutoring session. However, Deborah helped my student understand the WHY behind the Chemistry and Algebra equations. This was a genuine lightbulb moment. Once she understood the WHY, the solutions came easier. Deborah was very patient and moved at my student's speed and made sure she was understanding.

Such a wonderful tutor

My son has developed a desire to improve his study skills and is taking more responsibility to improve his desired grade in Algebra 1. Last semester we sought out Debbie to bring his failing grade to at least passing. He was able to bring it up to a B. So far this semester he has been able keep his average at or around the same. He has a few ups and downs but his confidence is not deflated anymore when he does not do as well as he expected. Debbie is very sweet and he looks forward to going to tutoring. We have had around 9-10 sessions thus far.
