Hi, I would love to help you improve your reading, grammar, spelling, and writing skills! I hold a valid Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in both California and Virginia for grades K-6. In addition, I have a Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in Language Arts Curriculum and Instruction. For the past 24 years, I have been in the education field as a teacher in grades K-5, a Reading Specialist working with individual students and small groups focused on remediation and enrichment, an Educational Coach for teachers to improve instruction, a homeschooling mom, and a tutor.

I have a passion for teaching students of all ages. Students have many different learning styles and as a teacher I love to find the learning style that makes learning enjoyable and fun, as well as build confidence. I believe in active participation, problem solving, and games to encourage thinking and retain information. My goal is for students to be lifelong learners and love reading!

A little bit about me: I love the outdoors! Hiking in the mountains, swimming in the pool or at the beach, biking around the neighborhood and walking are some of my favorite activities to do with my family. I love animals and our family has backyard chickens and a guinea pig.

In our first session, we will start class getting to know one another, building a relationship and assessing your reading level in order to create an individualized literacy plan to meet your needs. My teaching philosophy is one of kindness, patience and encouragement for all students.
