For the past ten years, I have enjoyed teaching English (both literature and writing courses) at the middle and high school levels. The middle school students I taught seemed to need the most help with grammar and analyzing literature. As a result, one of my strengths is teaching the parts of speech and sentence structure as well as essay construction. At the high school level, I taught eight different courses (the school runs an English elective program that is quite unique), so if you are reading a novel and needing help understanding it, chances are I have read or actually taught it. One of the elective courses I taught was titled College Writing. This course focused on helping students construct sentences, paragraphs, and longer term papers deliberately and effectively. This course was the most successful one and reflects my true passion, teaching writing.

I tutored a few times during my classroom years, but now I am looking for more opportunities in this field. Tutoring provides a flexible schedule as I am home with a young child. Working one on one with a student is the most ideal situation to provide quality instruction and instantaneous feedback.
