My philosophy when it comes to education is to engage students so that they want to learn. While teaching or tutoring I try to make the lesson fun and connect it to the student in some way. An socioeconomically challenged student will not learn the lesson if I use examples of wealthy individuals for they will not be able to relate to the situations presented.

I truly enjoy teaching and I am very patient with students. Most of the students that I have worked with had some slight learning disabilities to very prominent learning difficulties. I am here if students have issues outside of the learning environment. If students have something in their lives that distract them from learning, then it is my goal to give them an ear to listen and to try to set them in the right direction.

Confidentiality is very important to me and at no time will the student be discussed with anyone outside of him or her and the parents. With that said, if there is a specific situation I need assistance with I will talk to peers, but the student's name will not be used in any discussion about the problem.

My tutoring methods will vary depending on the subject, the age of the student, and the learning abilities of the students. At times I might employ the use of flash cards, writing assistants to help organize thoughts, the computer, and the Internet. My Masters of Arts in Teaching is in Educational Technology so I will be employing the computer quite a bit in the learning environment.
