Greatest tutor ever!

Marylou is such a wonderful German tutor to my son. She is so patient and caring. She creates wonderful note cards and posters for him (to hang on his wall at home) And, she puts in much of her "own time" on these things!!! She really cares about her students learning. My son loves her! She is also very affordable. I highly, highly recommend her.

Seasoned Teacher and Fluent German Speaker

Marylou met with my daughter, Ellie, to discuss tutoring her in German this upcoming year because German is not taught in Ellie's high school. Ellie has three years of online class instruction and has been anxious to find a way to continue learning German. Marylou was marvelously prepared for the meeting, with German materials of varying subject-matter and difficulty laid out on her table. Marylou immediately began a dialogue in German, a real joy for Ellie who has no one at home or at school with whom she can speak in German. Marylou quickly and expertly assessed Ellie's current level of fluency and then laid out a clear path for Ellie to study German during the upcoming year within the confines of Ellie's schedule. Perhaps the very best thing for Ellie was Marylou's approach; rather than more textbook learning, Marylou and Ellie will work to increase Ellie's vocabulary and comprehension by reading interesting stories and news articles. Marylou even loaned Ellie a music book in German so Ellie can play piano and sing the songs in German. This teacher is more than someone who knows German; she is a seasoned teacher as well. Our entire encounter was extremely positive and we were grateful to have made the connection to Marylou through Wyzant.

I am speaking on behalf of my daughter. I don't speak/understand German myself. However, so far at our first meeting, she imparted some valuable knowledge about German to my 15-year old daughter. She inspired my daughter to say again, "I love German", and she also inspired my daughter to say, "Thank you, Mom, for finding Marylou". She didn't want a tutor, but she has been frustrated with her German class and feeling like her questions go unanswered in her large public school. Marylou, I believe, is the knowledgeable, enthusiastic, kind and patient sort of professional we need to assist my daughter in regaining her enthusiasm for German and for getting on the right track in terms of really understanding the German language. I went into the search for a German language teacher with much angst. Ms. P. was just the ticket. Like I have said before I dreaded this whole thing until I met her. And now I can't wait for each lesson. And now as I see it I will be competently and fluently speaking conversational German within a year or two. I like the large "50-cent words" in German too. I hope to be able to translate those as I want to go further with this schooling and learn engineering and technological words too. And she has been much help in that direction also. Now to get down to the homework during this holiday season. It's really fun I can tell you.
