Hello! My name is Mark, I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors degree in neurobiology with a minor in global health and health policy from Harvard College. After graduating, I applied for and was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to conduct research in Australia. I completed my PhD in Psychology at Monash University in Melbourne and started as a first-year student at Harvard Medical School in the fall of 2021.

I have both tutored other students and been tutored since I was in high school, so I have experience on both sides. My biggest takeaway from these experiences has been the importance of personalizing material and tutoring approaches based on the goals of the students. This helps me to gauge the most effective ways that we can work such that students maximally benefit from sessions.

Having written two theses and applied to competitive colleges, postgraduate fellowships, and medical schools, I understand that writing and applying can be overwhelming. I also know that there are steps to make the process as rewarding as possible, and I enjoy finding ways to make this work with each student.

College and Fellowship essays
I have worked with students on essays and applications for undergraduate and graduate colleges and universities. My goal is to help to empower students to identify topics and to use their voice to compose meaningful and compelling essays. Having recently applied to undergraduate colleges (2015), postgraduate fellowships and PhD programs (2018) and medical schools (2020), I understand the process from both sides. I work with students to create a plan for crafting common application essays, personal statements, and supplemental essays.

Writing, Proofreading
Having published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers in academic journals, I have comprehensive experience writing and proofreading.

I am easy to reach, provide fast responses, and strive to meet the economic needs of families. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!

Epidemiology

Epidemiology

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I led a public health surveillance project leading to the publication of more than 15 peer-reviewed research papers. Employing epidemiologic data analysis principles, I assessed mental and behavioral health of the U.S. population, including survey weighting to national population estimates. I have experience with univariable and multivariable regression models (binomial, log-linked binomial, poisson) to estimate unadjusted and adjusted odds ratios/risk ratios. My experience with coding is primarily in Python and R, though I have used SPSS and Stata as well.

Knowledgeable and knows what he is doing

Mark is amazing. I had trouble figuring out my narrative and how to write an amazing piece and he was able to go over with me my paper by having a clear outline and helping me craft an amazing story. If you need help with an essay, look no further. He is literally the best!

Amazing Tutor!

Mark was amazing! His expertise and experience in research was crucial in helping me get into a prestigious and competitive summer program. He helped me brainstorm ideas, organize my thoughts, revise my resume, and polish my writing. He was always patient and professional, and tried his best to make himself available. I wouldn’t have gotten into the program without his help.

Amazing help with medical school primary and secondary app!

Mark has an incredible ability to take your writing to the next level and add in exactly what is needed to appeal to the adcom. He takes the themes you have and focuses the wording to bring your ideas to light. He also adds in phrasing that encompasses what medical schools are looking for. High recommend! Best editor I've ever used

Mark C. is am amazing editor. He did a really great job of reviewing my work for both grammar and content, while making sure it still sounded like me, which was important to me. He has the unique ability to keep the material yours while also making it better than you imagined it to be. He always responds in a very timely manner, and was super supportive throughout the process while remaining kind and professional. He's really awesome, I never leave reviews and really felt compelled to, I can not recommend him enough. Thank you again for making the application process bearable, Mark!!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Mark is an excellent tutor who provided valuable feedback for the personal statements I composed for graduate school. In addition, Mark helped make the grad school application process less daunting by helping me organize information for the schools I was applying to in a well-organized spreadsheet and assisting me in clearly articulating my interests and passion for the programs that I was interested in.

Experienced and knowledgeable tutor!

Mark clearly understands the college application process very well. He provided great feedback and recommendations, which helped me better understand what the prompt was asking me, and what college admission officers would prefer to see. Specifically, regarding certain prompts where my writing was lacking, I appreciated Marks's comments on how to make my responses more engaging and cohesive. This is especially apparent in his advice about admission officers reading words ONCE (therefore, everything needs to be presented to them early on and it must be impactful because they will not go back to reread anything). His assistance helped me finish my Princeton application with confidence in my work!
