I can help you in over 45 different subjects. As one of the most experienced and most highly rated local tutors, I guarantee satisfaction with my classes. Math and business courses are my specialty; I also tutor programming, physics, piano, and other subjects.

I have experience dealing with all ages and levels; the youngest I have tutored was a six-year-old needing help with elementary math while the oldest was a 54-year old economics student returning to get his MBA. I know how to adapt my tutoring methods to the individual needs of each student to help them learn quickly and thoroughly.

About Me: I graduated from Westminster College in 2013 with a degree in computer information systems and most of one in international business management . I began working for a local company as a driver, and within eight months was a general manager in charge of running the entire company. After doing that for a while, I quit that job to pursue tutoring as a full-time career and have been doing so for over a year now. In 2015, I was rated one of the top 250 tutors in Wyzant's network of over 72,000 tutors. I am now no longer tutoring full-time, having moved on to exciting prospects in the financial technology industry.

Multiple Lesson Discount: I no longer offer discounts for multiple lessons per week or regularly scheduled lessons.

Group Discount: Occasionally, students will ask me to tutor multiple students during the same time period. Common examples of these are two friends in the same class or two siblings. I am willing to do this, and I offer group rates. For each student after the first, the base price of the session increases by $10. This will not affect the cost for travel time, but it will be affected by discounts offered through both Wyzant and mys

I have played the piano for over fifteen years, having started when I was six years old. During the first several years, I was certified through level 5 with the certificate of merit system, but stopped participating in that system when I switched piano teachers. I have played for various functions, including accompanying both solo vocalists and choirs, as well as a band. In addition, I have tutored beginning piano students at Westminster College. I focus a great deal on technique, and in early learners the ability to read music. I don't focus a lot on ear training or improvisation, nor on the ability to write music, but I make sure that my students can take a piece of music and learn to play it well.

Test Preparation

PSAT,

PSAT

I did exceptionally well on the PSAT, with a score of 223 (out of 240). This score was high enough to make me eligible for competition in the National Merit Scholar competition, in which I was a finalist. I also scored 2370 on the SAT. Even more important than my raw scores, I am capable of helping others improve their scores. While I cannot guarantee scores exactly like mine, I can help students learn the test-taking techniques that helped me succeed with the PSAT, SAT, and any other multiple choice test. There are two ways of studying for the PSAT and the SAT. The first is to study the actual material, which involves reviewing geometry, algebra I and II, vocabulary, and grammar. The other method of study is to learn to understand the thinking behind a multiple choice test, which will help you prepare for all multiple choice tests for the rest of your life. If you are interested in hiring me as a tutor for the PSAT or SAT, I can teach either or both methods.

Awesome Tutor!

Very patient and knowledgeable tutor who always comes prepared. Tutored me in upper level Spanish, Micro and International Economics, as well as Finance and International Finance. Good at getting concepts to stick and easily the best tutor I have used. Keep coming back with new classes because he always knows what he is talking about and what I am learning!

Knowledgeable and patient finance tutor

Helped me with my Finance 1010 class, specifically Sustainable Growth Rate, Present and Future Value of Annuities and Perpetuities, and Required Rate of Return. Got a good grade on my final the next day!

Josh really helped me in a time of need! Was willing to meet quickly, and very adaptive to my learning style!

Josh does a great job.

Josh may not be the cheapest, but I've found out that he is worth it--at least in the subject that I'm being helped in (java). I sat for 7 hours with another tutor, and he could not even do the work. I went back to Josh the next day, he was able to correct everything that was done wrong, and help complete the assignment very easily.

Difference maker!

Joshua has been tutoring my son and has made a huge difference with his confidence in test taking and overall knowledge. I wish I would have started this long ago. Thank you!

Super Adaptable

If it doesn't click, he'll change his approach and find a way to make it click. He's very prepared and makes every minute count.

Excellent Tutor

I could not have finished my computer science class without Joshua's help. He was very patient through the whole semester and helped me understand more about programming concepts. If he did not know something he was willing to research it and find the solution for the problem. I highly recommend him as a tutor.

Very Good Tutor, Patient and Accommodating

Joshua was friendly, positive, punctual, professional, and responsible. He helped me get through an entire college algebra course in 30 days with good results. The best thing about working with Josh was his flexibility with my learning style. I would definitely recommend Joshua.

Very Patient Tutor!

Joshua was a very patient tutor. He was able to break things down enough that I was able to understand. He is a very positive guy and never makes you feel awkward for not knowing something. Super easy to get a hold of and answers back super fast!
