Hello, my name is Mitchell and I look forward to helping you with your questions and learning needs. I enjoy teaching students and supporting them to succeed in their academics. I have a Bachelor degree of Science in Biochemistry. I have had experience in teaching chemistry workshops and laboratory sessions during college. I taught students how to solve problems that helped them comprehend the major chemical concepts and build their foundational knowledge. I also immersed myself in performing scientific experiments and earned my departmental honors status in chemistry. I excelled in various chemistry courses and maintained a high GPA standard of 3.85 throughout my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years in college. I was also awarded the Excellence in Student Research certificate by Portland State University and was placed on the Dean’s list for scholarships and competitive fellowships.

During my undergraduate studies, I offered tutoring in one-on-one and group tutoring sessions through a university-based learning platform. While the majority of my students were college-level students, I was also able to offer tutoring sessions to high school students outside of my hours at the university. By tutoring students from different educational backgrounds, I realized that the most successful approach to teaching is showing students how to solve problems then allowing to delve into similar problems on their own.

In addition to my experience in teaching, I hold myself to higher communication and professional standards which help students get the most out of their tutoring sessions with me. I connect with students and sympathize with their struggles because I have been in their shoes and have had to go through the same thing that they go through. Bringing a set of skills that include creative problem-solving, excellent communication, time management and positive support, I believe that I can offer both college-level and high school students the opportunity to succeed in their academics in a way that suits their learning style.
