I am a certified Math 6-12, ESL supplemental and EC-12 LOTE Chinese language teacher in the State of Texas. I have taught Algebra 1 and PreAP Geometry in a SBISD high school. In addition to my public school teaching, I have years of experiences teaching beginner and intermediate Chinese to Adults and young children in a heritage Chinese school in West Houston area. I am also a group and private piano teacher specialized in teaching beginners using Mayron Cole's Piano Method for 10+ years in...

Believing that each student is unique, I enjoy getting to know my students in order to assess their strengths as well as areas for improvement. My background and experiences in ESL also enhances me to relate and encourage students to adjust and set appropriate steps and goals to reach their full potentials. My philosophy and approach in teaching is to help students to establish a solid foundation first whether it be math skill, language comprehension, or rhythm/sight reading for music, then based on students' abilities and interests to apply and work toward mastery of knowledge, understanding and application toward their learning goals and objectives. I value feedback from both students and parents to ensure a good relational dynamic to promote an active learning process for inquiry and success.

I am flexible to work with students' schedule. Though I have a 24 hours cancellation policy, make up lesson usually can be arranged when notice is given in advance. To ensure the best environment and utilize the resources I have available, I do prefer students to come to my neighborhood location for private lessons or group classes. However, I am willing to travel to another location if the distance is reasonable and not too far.

Whether it is note taking, time management or organizational skills, I believe they are all essential tools for any good students. One on one tutoring is most effective when areas for improvement can be targeted to work on so lessons can be set up to provide strategies to help students to overcome the obstacles in order to achieve success. Geometry can be a difficult class for many students. sandwiched in most high school curricula between Algebra 1 and Algebra 2, geometry is different from those classes because it calls upon more than just the pure mathematical aptitude the others require. But make no mistake: you DO need solid algebra skills to succeed in geometry,in my experience you also need to be creative, logical and be able to “think” logically, and visualize in 2 and 3 dimensions. Algebra 1 is the foundation course to high school math. You must master the concepts learned in this course to be successful in Geometry, Algebra 2 and beyond. MY QUALIFICATIONS TO TUTOR THIS COURSE • Taught this course in a high school setting. • Tutored this subject both in school and online. • Degrees in Computer Science with minor in Math. • plus… I’m pretty good at it! Geometry is a core subject of my specialty since I have experience of teaching Geometry in school setting. I have also worked with students in various background in tutoring Geometry. One on one tutoring is most effective when areas for improvement can be targeted to work on so lessons can be set up to provide strategies to help students to overcome the obstacles in order to achieve success. Geometry can be a difficult class for many students. sandwiched in most high school curricula between Algebra 1 and Algebra 2, geometry is different from those classes because it calls upon more than just the pure mathematical aptitude the others require. But make no mistake: you DO need solid algebra skills to succeed in geometry,in my experience you also need to be creative, logical and be able to “think” logically, and visualize in 2 and 3 dimensions.
