Working with people to help them learn a new concept is my passion. I understand that there is nothing more frustrating than not being able to understand what you are learning. Whether it is comprehending what you have read or trying to learn a new language; not understanding can become a road block to your success without the right person to guide you. That's where I come in! With over 10 years experience working with students and 5 years tutoring ESL students, I believe I have the strategies necessary to help students succeed. Because students are on different levels of learning, I develop individualized learning plans for each student. The student's progress is monitored along the way and changes are made to the plan when necessary. My challenge is to make learning fun and enjoyable while accomplishing educational goals.

I have a Master's Degree from Wright State University. While working on my thesis, I gained insight into what professors are looking for when producing essays and other college writing. I have tutored elementary students (language arts, writing, reading and math), middle school students (reading, writing, math, and social studies), high school students (ACT prep (Reading and Writing), reading and vocabulary, English literature, and study skills), and college students (study skills and essay development)

My goal is to see you succeed and I would love to be your tutor!

I have over six years experience tutoring ESL students on various learning levels. While working on my thesis, I completed a course that helped me to develop a curriculum for various levels of ESL students. Some students need help with learning ABC's, basic words, grammar (parts of speech, tense), writing sentences, and understanding the meaning of words. Other students require intermediate grammar and writing lessons. Advanced students generally require some help developing their writing skills or gaining confidence in speaking.

Proofreading

Sometimes proofreading a paper can be frustrating. How many times have you turned in a paper only to find errors later. I have over 10 years experience reviewing papers and making suggestions to help students turn in a paper that flows and meets your professors approval. In addition, completing my Master's Degree has helped me to develop and improve my writing skills.

Reading

Reading is fundamental to the success of our students. If they do not comprehend what they are reading at an early age, they will have a hard time adjusting as they get older. When I work with students, I like to do an assessment to see what level they are on. From there we develop a reading plan that details various benchmarks to be accomplished. Additionally, we work on strategies that will assist the student in reading comprehension. The ultimate goal is for the student to love and comprehend what they read!

Study Skills

I have 2 years experience teaching students about developing study skills. Students take three assessments in order to better assist them in improving their study skills. The first assessment determines the student's learning style. The second assessment helps the student find out about their study habits and attitudes. The third assessment evaluates the places they study. Once students have this information they are able to develop their own study plan based on their results. Students who have participated in my workshops gain a better understanding of how their learning style and study environment affect their study habits. In addition, they can see what areas in terms of study skills need improving. They walk away with a realistic plan that will help them develop and maintain better study habits.

Awesome Tutor

Charlotte is a tutor for my 2nd grader. My daughter is an anxious child and can't concentrate on details. We had to change several tutors because they couldn't keep my child's attention and interest to the subject. I don't know how Charlotte did it, but my daughter adores her. At this point, my child is able not only to do her 2nd grade homework, but she also able to do assignments without any struggling that are given the 3rd graders. I would recommend English lessons with Charlotte to anyone who would like to help their kids to improve their knowledge in reading/language arts.

Very patient and understanding Tutor

Charlotte is teaching my daughter Reading/language arts. When my daughter stared tutoring last year she was failing reading/language and was 2 grades behind. She came from a 3rd grade level to a 5th grade level in 4 months of working with Charlotte. She was only going for 1 hour a week and then I added another hour at the end. My daughter loves Charlotte I've never seen her so excited about reading. I would recommend her to anyone. She's awesome.
