Tutoring has been a passion of mine for several years; one of the reasons I chose medicine was because physicians have the unique opportunity to TEACH their patients - instead of simply prescribing medications, doctors get to educate patients about how to take control of their lives.

I started tutoring as a high school student at Texas Academy of Math + Science - a unique residential program where students take real university courses from real college professors. Some of the qualities tutoring have taught me is patience and an understanding of different teaching techniques. The highlight of my achievements includes winning the National Merit Scholarship - a full tuition merit scholarship at the University of Texas at Dallas. There, I completed an honors thesis, earning Major Honors in Biology, and a minor in Business Administration. Research helps me become an excellent problem solver and an extremely hard worker.

As a medical student, I went through a transition period from how I studied in undergrad to comprehending massive amounts of information, forcing me to employ different methods of learning. This also allows me to be a mentor to my students. Throughout undergrad and after I graduated, I continued tutoring and mentoring college students. One of my students went from failing his quizzes and exams to getting A's and B's...a miraculous feat!

When I tutor students, I am fully invested in their success - I don't aim to get my students a passing grade, but give them strategies that will allow them to do well in their academics. I'm very patient and enthusiastic about helping students learn strategies that will allow them to well long after the subject is finished or they have graduated.

I am a 2nd year pediatric resident in Phoenix, AZ. My schedule will vary month to month but I remain flexible and am happy to accommodate times. I enjoy tutoring students for the USMLE, MCAT and College admission tests and for subjects related to medicine including biology and physiology.
