Hi! I'm Mark. For over thirty years I have taught students of all ages, including adults, a variety of subjects in the humanities. I am a graduate of Duke University, with a Masters in Secondary Education. I have tutored students in English, Latin, and History, and I also work with students interested in test preparation, both ACT and SAT. I enjoy teaching and getting to know my students so that I can design instruction that fits their learning needs.

I have years of experience understanding both the course material I teach and also finding ways to help students learn content. My classroom is a lively one with lots of active discussion and creative teaching techniques. I have improved students of all ages in their pursuit of knowledge of Latin and the Classical world, teaching and tutoring beginning students all the way through Advanced Placement.

I have also taught junior high and high school students in my Ancient and World History courses. Making the past come alive is a joy to share with students! I've also directed study abroad trips with my students to historical destinations in Europe.
