Bio

There is no such thing as a "math person", anyone is capable of mastering the subject with the right instruction! There are many paths to understanding and I find customized a way of teaching, best harmonizing the topic with the student's personal manner of thinking. My tutoring style takes into account each individual's own experiences, goals, and tendencies.

I can also especially help with scientific writing such as reports and labs.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

A strong foundation in Algebra is so important for success on standardized tests, and in my opinion is the most "real world" applicable math subject. I've taught Algebra as supplement to classes, giving insight and helping work out gaps in prior education (most commonly fractions and integers). I've also taught Algebra as a teacher, to homeschool students, adults taking qualifying exams, and college students refreshing their math.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is one of my favorite to tutor, with topics that are often brand new to students such as trigonometry and functional analysis. I have 5+ years of experience helping students fill the gaps in their prior knowledge and master the new concepts. I find my enthusiasm for these topics easily transfers to students, which makes learning and acing classes a painless experience.
Geometry,

Geometry

Geometry can be frustrating for students often because it is incompletely described in classes and textbooks. I strengthen the students' foundation in Algebra and use examples from art and media to help the student gain a geometric intuition. This helps raise confidence and test scores without having to memorize anything.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

Any degree in physics requires knowledge of diff eqns because physics is completely made out of differential eqns. I took the class Ordinary Differential Equations twice in college. My school was pass fail and the first time around I made a 69% right below pass, the second time in the 90%s. Then I took Mathematical Physics which focused on diff eqns, and I also took Partial differential equations using Strauss textbook which I did well in.

Knowledgeable and patient

Abigail is always eager to help and will explain until I get it. She’s the type of tutor that helps make it click. I don’t know how I would be doing in Physics Mechanics and Theory without her.

Great teacher

Abigail has been a blessing to my kiddo. She understands “kid explanations” and is able to help her understand what they are teaching in school. She is amazingly kind and gentle toned and works well with kids.

Knowledgeable, patient, flexible, wonderful!

Thank you so much Abby for working with my son to prepare for his ACT exam (it was all last minute and Abby has been AMAZING!). I can’t say enough good things about Abby and her help!!

Excellent Geometry Tutor

My daughter learned a lot from Abigail. She helped her understand concepts that were difficult to learn from her class and was very patient. We will definitely use her again and recommend highly.
