Hi. My name is Steve. My students usually just call me Mr. V. I have been helping students to gain a real understanding of science, while having fun doing it, for 14 years. Because I have worked as a Manufacturing Plant Chemist, a research assistant for UC Davis, a Process Control Supervisor, owned my own business, and did research at the National Institutes of Health, I know how science is applied in the real world. Since I have taught a wide variety of topics, using a variety of platforms to a wide range of learners, I have been very successful in helping hundreds of students to achieve high scores through a solid understanding.
I am excited to have an opportunity to help you in all areas of science. I love it when my students put on a big smile when they have had a breakthrough or complete an assignment they are proud of. One of the things I am most proud of is how students say I have had a positive effect on their lives because they know I care about them and have helped them to be successful when they thought there was no way they could be.

I have taught high school chemistry, physics, earth science, and biology. I have also taught a college Human Anatomy & Physiology course, Spanish, Math, PE, Outdoor Education, Health, and more!

I believe my students benefit the most when they know that we are in a partnership. I strive to find out how each individual learns, what their knowledge and experience is, and what motivates them. I really appreciate the ideas and concerns that students and parents have to offer. I am easy to get hold of and will always respond within 24 hours. In fact, I can often respond within a much shorter time. I like to use Skype, Viber, Google Voice, and many other forms of communication.
