I’m Jessie! I have a PhD and an MA in literature, graduating summa cum laude in both. I have over 30 years of experience teaching literature and English composition at the college level.

All my courses included individual conferences with students, both in person and online, so I am well-versed in tutoring. My experience taught me to keep the tutoring environment pleasant and conversational so that students feel comfortable asking questions. Asking good questions is the key to acquiring or learning new skills.

When I was a doctoral candidate, I worked as a tutor in the university writing center, helping students with essay assignments from all disciplines at the undergraduate and graduate level. I can support students in ninth grade Honors English, graduate students writing dissertations, and all grade levels in between.

My goal as a tutor is to provide tailored guidance and resources to students customized to their needs. Research in my field has shown, and my experience proves, that this feedback works best when provided to students promptly, so I make it a point to respond quickly.
