Hello! Thank you for visiting my page. I am a teacher who loves learning. For the past 5 years, I have been at a small, private school in a multi-grade classroom. My primary grade levels are 6-8 grades, and I teach English for grades 5-12. I work with advanced students, as well as students with various challenges from basic skill deficiencies to visual and auditory processing disorders, ADHD, and ASD.

My strengths center around writing: from sentences and paragraphs to reports and essays. I have experience editing for publication and can support all levels of child, teen, and adult learners. I have a BA in English with a Writing Certificate and a minor in Fine Arts. For a portion of my career, I was an instructional designer developing adult education programs. I also have a graduate degree in Theology-Biblical Studies and can support students in their studies of the Bible as well.

Though I have experience teaching in large auditoriums and formal classroom settings, my favorite interactions with students are in small groups and one-on-one. Building relationships is very important to me, and I like to understand a student’s motivation. I have a flexible approach to tutoring, using inquiry-based learning and letting the student set their own goals. I will make each session as structured or relaxed as necessary for the student to gain confidence and feel productive.
