Dear Students,

Presently I work as a freelance copywriter, copy editor, and proofreader specializing in print- and web-based projects. My strengths are: writing concise paragraphs, creating bold, provocative sentences, and identifying spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors. I have proofed and edited dozens of medical journals and textbooks. Most recently I worked on DVD releases for Sony Entertainment and CBS/Paramount. A former literary agent, I have a B.A. in English from Towson University in Maryland. I offer a unique combination of creativity and technical skill.

My approach to tutoring is to build on the strengths of the student. I will show you how to structure your first draft, which you will then rewrite and revise, producing a powerfully written piece. Someone once said that “writing is rewriting.” I believe once you support the basic facts and information (i.e., in a term paper), you are then free to explore the creative aspects of language and writing. The “content” is the information you provide through research, the “context” is the style of the writing, and the finished product – a beautifully written paper – is one that instructors and teachers will compliment and grade highly.

Finally, I believe effective writing is a valuable tool...and students should have fun learning it.
