I am a University of La Verne graduate with a focus on Child Development, bringing over 8 years of dedicated tutoring experience to my role. Specializing in math and English instruction for K-12 students, my passion for education has been honed through extensive practical engagement.
Recently, I have achieved significant milestones in my professional development by completing two comprehensive trainings with the Orton Gillingham Academy. I hold certifications at both the Classroom Educator Level and the Associate Level in the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching literacy. Currently, I am diligently pursuing my certification at the Associate Level with the Orton Gillingham Academy, further solidifying my commitment to fostering effective literacy skills.
The Orton-Gillingham Approach, a method I am trained in, is a direct, explicit, multisensory, structured, sequential, diagnostic, and prescriptive way to teach literacy. This approach is particularly effective for individuals facing challenges in reading, writing, and spelling, including those with dyslexia. My dedication to this specialized training underscores my commitment to providing tailored and effective support to learners who may find traditional methods challenging.
I am proud to be associated with the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators, reflecting my commitment to staying current with best practices in literacy instruction. As a dyslexia practitioner in training, I am enthusiastic about contributing to the academic success of my students through a personalized and research-based approach to teaching.
