Hi, my name is Claire! I'm a classroom English teacher who's passionate about education and getting students into their dream schools. I've been an educator with multiple tutoring companies for the past five years. I've taught and tutored over 200 students in subjects such as college admissions strategy, essay writing, ACT/SAT prep, public speaking, speech and debate, algebra, geometry, English and entrepreneurship. I have developed curriculum for workshops on college essay writing and SAT/ACT workshops.

My philosophy as a tutor is to inspire both love and mastery of the subjects I teach. I personalize and tailor my lesson plans to fit the needs of each individual student, and I'd love to work with you! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

When I was applying to colleges, I wrote 60+ pages of application essays and discovered my love for the process. I've since helped college junior and seniors get into their top schools by finding their "hooks" and telling a compelling narrative that piques admissions officers' interests.

I scored perfect 36s on the English and Reading ACT portions and I'd love to help your student do the same! As a former Head Editor for Princeton University's newspaper of record, I'm skilled in writing and editing for clarity and concision. I can help students improve their reading comprehension and fix errors in sentences to score highly on these sections.

In public speaking, I am a former nationally ranked debater in Congressional Debate. I've been a speech and debate tutor for the past three years and an actor for the past 12 years. I can help you gain the confidence and technical skills you need to succeed on stage or in any presentation.

I graduated from the Princeton School for Public and International Affairs. I took courses in microeconomics, sociology, political science, history, English, Spanish, and psychology.

Sociology,

Sociology

I conducted sociological research numerous times over the course of the past few years. In college, my specific areas of focus were sociology of religion and sociology of poverty. I conducted two research projects using qualitative sociological fieldwork methodologies. The first was in New York supportive housing buildings, for a paper on the sociological dimensions of housing instability and the intersection with mental illness. The second fieldwork project examined the sociological dimensions of religious practice in college Jewish communities — namely Hillels and Chabad houses. I have been trained in sociology methods, particularly in interviews, focus groups, and participant observation.
