Composition (Music)

I received my Ph.D. in Music from the University of California, San Diego and M.F.A. in music from Taipei National University of the Arts, where my major was always music composition. I write contemporary art music for orchestra, chamber music, chorus, solo and ensemble works for instruments and voices, and electronics. My compositions have been performed at many prestigious festivals and calls, including the International Society of Contemporary Music World Music Days, Asian Composers League, International Computer Music Conference, American Choral Director's Association Conference and Festival, American Composer Orchestra EarShot San Diego, and League of American Orchestra Women Composer's Commission project etc.

Piano

I am an active contemporary classical piano performer who has more than 15 years of tutoring experience and at least 12 years of new music performance. I currently served as the pianist of the NODUS New Music Ensemble and piano accompanist at the Florida International University. I worked as a pianist at the Ensemble Ibis at University of Miami during 2016-18 and as a contracted piano/keyboard performer with the Last Hundred Ensemble in 2022-23.

Sight Singing

I started to learn music since I was 4 years old. I have more than 10 years of classroom teaching experience subjecting Musicianship, including Sight Singing, Dictation, Ear Training, and Theory. My former students' level range are from middle school to college. I also have taught higher-level musicianship, such as complex rhythm, consequent modulation, advanced tonality, and meter changes, to students who have perfect pitch and 10-14 years of music learning experience. Because I myself is an active new music performer, I always look for strategies of sight reading and music comprehension.
