I have experience in this area as I've been a substitute teacher for the past five years teaching Social Studies, Science, Math, English and Reading in the elementary grades. I do have a masters degree in education which I received in May 2010. This past year I've had a part time job through the YWCA as a site director for a program called Kids Qwest. This is an after school program for elementary students until their parents get off work to pick them up. In this program, they have a 30 minute block for kids to work on their homework. I helped many kids with their homework in math.

I've helped other students through Wyzant.com in their study skills through tutoring in Math/Reading using practice lessons through work sheets, covering skills on a dry erase board, flash cards, and presenting problems with worksheets I made up. I also work as a substitute teacher grades k through 12, and have helped students' at the elementary/secondary level develop their study skills while preparing for a test such as assigned work sheets, note taking, preparing outlines for a paper, or underlining important concepts in a textbook.

Reading is FUNdamental

Kristen seems very passionate about teaching and is even furthering her skillset to this day. Though my son perhaps took awhile to warm up to her, and he can be uncooperative a good percentage of the time, when I see him excited and smiling when the session is over, I know the time and money spent was used effectively.

Great Tutor. Very Knowledgeable.

We have enjoyed working with Kristen. She was able to connect with my son, identify his weakness, and gain his confidence. This gave him the ability to work at a higher level then could be reached at school. Kristen addressed his unique talents and specific needs which was absolutely incredible. She was 100% reliable and very flexible with her scheduling. Thanks Kristen!!
