Hello, my name is Gabby and I am an elementary teacher for Calvert County Public Schools. I have taught elementary grade levels for 10 years now and have tutored for 12 years. My tutoring experience is mainly in mathematics for elementary and middle school as well as ELA for elementary and middle school. I have my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's in Middle School Mathematics for Teachers. I am certified to teach grade levels 1st-6th.
During tutoring, I like to work with the student on what they are receptive to. Learning styles play an integral part to the tutoring process. With my knowledge of the elementary and middle school curriculum, I am able to provide the strategies that are taught within the classroom as well as ways to remember how to tackle these strategies.
I have taught in Charles County and Calvert County with the experience in 1st, 2nd and 4th grade. I have taught virtually, hybrid and in person during those 10 years.
In the past, I have tutored students with learning disabilities, students with low self-esteem with reading, students struggling with mathematical concepts and students that just needed additional practice outside of the classroom. Specifically, I have tutored 4 second grade students in both reading and math, 3 first grade students in decoding skills, 10 fourth grade students in both ELA and math, 1 third grade student in ELA, and 2 middle school students in pre-algebra. Each student was tutored one on one with the exception of two fourth grade students who were provided tutoring together as they needed additional support with the same subjects. The middle school students were tutored online with the assistance of Zoom.
