I began tutoring math and science as an economics major at Columbia University in the City of New York. I later returned to school and followed a premedical track at Rutgers University. While there, I ran the Learning Center and tutored basic mathematics up to and including calculus, chemistry, physics, and organic chemistry.
I also teach the SAT because most schools, including the Ivy Leagues are now utilizing this exam exclusively to decide on their student admissions. My students have scored a minimum of a 1300 on the NEW SAT. I have been working with math and English students of all levels and backgrounds for many years. I received A's in all of my undergraduate math and science courses and scored above the 95th percentile on the SAT.
Over the last several years, I have fine-tuned my craft and have become adept at explaining difficult topics in a simplistic manner. It is my goal as a tutor to give a student academic confidence and more important, academic independence. I enjoy working with students, because it gives me pleasure to watch them reach their true potential.
Additionally, I was a high school chemistry teacher and scored above the 95th percentile on the Chemistry Praxis exam.
My schedule is relatively flexible. I am available throughout the day and most of the evening & nights. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions.
Thank you,
Gus
