I am Dianne, a professional linguist with an approved background check, IXL-certified, and a mom to two beautiful boys who have ADHD, Autism, and other special needs challenges.

Qualifications: 28 years of teaching experience in the US, Argentina, and Mexico. B.S. degree from Utah State University and graduate work from Northcentral University. I have run a successful international language company and have trained ESL teachers from all over the world.

1) ESL/TESOL: My niches are Conversation, Accent Reduction, Pronunciation, and Grammar along with music if you like.

2) GRAMMAR: The essentials for a solid foundation in English and Spanish.

3) TOEFL, IELTS, and TOIEC test preparation: Latest feedback on November 3, 2023: "We did it! I got a score of 106 in the TOEFL. Reading 28, listening 30, 24 speaking, and 24 in writing" That means my student can get into any Ivy League university in the US. Yay!

4) SPANISH: Sharing my latest success story! Cierra at Pepperdine University was taking her Spanish course for the 2nd time with the same demanding professor. She needed to pass this class to graduate and get her B.S. degree. She started out with a D which was frustrating for her. Good news! She just told me that she passed the class with 73% and is graduating in May! We are celebrating!

5) PROOFREADING: Entrance essays, publishing, whatever you need.

6) WRITING/SPELLING: I am a Published Author and Top Content Writer. We will do live editing and add resources to strengthen your vocabulary while you learn to polish your writing skills.

I use only the latest materials to teach with clear explanations, exercises, games, conversation, and music.

Most importantly, my mission is to help you gain the critical skills to communicate clearly and effectively in English or Spanish.

Public Speaking

I have a B.S. degree from Utah State University plus 30 years of leadership in international business. My professional experience has included the following: corporate presentation trainer for CEOs and executives in the US and Latin America, new airline reservation agent employee trainer, and private English student job interview training, My newest and very successful endeavor is a YouTube channel that interviews Americans, Canadians and other Spanish speakers in both English and Spanish about their lives as foreigners in another country. My goal is to prepare you with the tools you'll need to be successful when it comes to public speaking engagements and job interviews to put your best foot forward. We'll conduct mock job interviews and presentations until you acquire enough confidence to achieve your goal, whatever that may be.

Corporate Training

ESL/ESOL,

ESL/ESOL

This is my top subject matter! My teaching experience: I started out teaching English in Buenos Aires, Argentina where I lived for almost 18 years. I taught all kinds of international populations from around the world, such as Spanish and Portuguese speakers, French, other Europeans, Asians (Korean and Chinese) Ukrainians, and Middle Easterners, among others. Then I moved back to the US and continued teaching at the corporate level. Finally, 3+ years in Mexico. I know how to give a diagnosis on the English language learner and how to combat those "illnesses". Thus, I've become the "go-to" tutor for pronunciation, especially for Spanish, Portuguese, and Asian populations since those are the students I've taught most over the years. Additional experience: I've owned a translation company and have been a translator, editor, proofreader, and copyeditor.
Grammar,

Grammar

I can help you diagnosis what's going on with your grammar and correct your "illnesses", combating them with special exercises and activities (even games sometimes) to help you remember when to use each tense, adjective, and much, much more. The problem isn't doing them in exercises, it's when you need to use them in real life! That's what I do best, so you'll be in great hands with me.
Proofreading,

Proofreading

My experience encompasses 25 years of reviewing texts that help students get into their residency programs, authors who have been published, law firms and global companies. My process includes proofreading the text on my own, then going online with my clients to re-read the text to make sure it conveys the exact message for the specific purpose it was intended for. I'm also a published author and writing tutor, thus your text will be in expert hands with me.

Learn naturally with a bilingual gringa (American) who's lived almost half her life (22 years) in Latin America (Argentina and Mexico) and who has been a professional translator, language interpreter, and tour guide in Mexico. I'm not a native speaker of Spanish, but I'm pretty close since I've learned how to navigate life in Latin America starting from not knowing much at all to becoming fully fluent and conversational. I can teach anything from beginner Spanish to conversational levels, teach you verb conjugations, vocabulary, and good pronunciation in a way that you'll learn quickly and increase your love of the Spanish language and culture, just like I have. ¡Me encanta el idioma español!

If you want to learn Spanish, Dianne is the best tutor there is hands down!

I began lessons with Dianne a little over 2 months ago and I am so excited to have hit the jackpot of tutors! She is absolutely everything I was hoping for and more. I took 2 years of Spanish in high school over two decades ago, so I didn't really know where I fell on the spectrum of beginners. Dianne has been amazing at going through all the fundamentals and pinpointing my strengths and weaknesses. She is so warm and kind and makes me so comfortable when attempting new phrases and vocabulary. The way she engages is fun and encouraging and makes you WANT to speak Spanish! Dianne is a big stickler for pronunciation, and I am so grateful for that! I eventually want to be able to speak Spanish out in the world and don't want people to be unable to understand what I'm saying. What would be the point of learning Spanish then?! She is a wealth of knowledge and brings more than just vocabulary. She provides an understanding of different Spanish speaking cultures and accent differences that I think the typical Spanish tutor either glosses over or simply doesn't posses. I could go on for days but I will end by saying the best part of my week is my lesson with Dianne. She is simply the best Spanish tutor there is, and I feel very lucky to have her mentorship in my Spanish language journey. Gracias Dianne por todo!

Knowledgable and Caring Tutor

Dianne has helped me immensely in my spanish 2 course. Before tutoring with her I was completely lost; but after multiple sessions with her I finally understand what I am doing in class! She constantly encourages me and wants me to succeed, and is ALWAYS willing to help me. She has made me feel smart and intelligent within our sessions which has helped boost my confidence while I am in class as well. Dianne is the best tutor I have had for a spanish course, I 100% recommend working with her! (:

Just what my son needed

Dianne's help was just what my son needed. She patiently helped him work through a packet and worksheets; even when the directions were confusing. We never could have done that on our own. She is a bright and cheerful person who clearly loves to help. We will definitely recommend her to our friends. Thank you so much Dianne! :-)

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

I had the pleasure of having Dianne tutor my daughter Emily for the district spelling bee contests for seven sessions. Throughout the process, she gave my daughter the confidence she needed and encouraged her every step of the way. She not only taught my daughter to spell words, but she also helped her learn their meanings. The work Dianne does is incredible, and I highly recommend her to anyone.

Genesis , 5 lessons with Dianne
Tutor responded:

Thank you so much for this wonderful review, Genesis! It was truly my pleasure to work with Emily who is the smartest girl ever. She will go far in life with that intelligence!

Knowledgeable and kind tutor

Dianne has helped me improve my Spanish vocabulary, and study for upcoming Spanish tests. I needed help memorizing vocabulary and learning how to create sentences with the words. Dianne was able to assist with both which improved my Spanish skills greatly. She also teaches subjects thoroughly so that one can understand it completely.

Tutor responded:

I really appreciate your feedback so much, Alex. Your son and I are a good team. Cheers to more future improvement!

Great teacher in both language and culture.

Dianne is a great teacher. I'm learning Spanish quicker than I expected. She's lived in Argentina and lives in Mexico so she's able to teach what people actually say. She's also great at explaining the culture which I found interesting and motivated me. The only reason that I stopped being her student is because I don't know anyone else who speaks Spanish and I recommend her to other people who are considering learning the language.

Dan, 62 lessons with Dianne

Thank you Dan for this additional feedback that I wasn't expecting. I miss working with you and hopefully, we'll have the chance to work together again. Happy New Year!
