After successfully practicing law for more than a decade, I have realized in recent years that my greatest natural talents are in teaching. This has led to a rewarding, parallel career of tutoring in a range of subjects as detailed below.

After successfully practicing law for more than a decade, I have realized in recent years that my greatest natural talents are in teaching. This has led to a rewarding, parallel career of tutoring in a range of subjects as detailed below.

I have a multicultural and multilingual background as I was born overseas, attended an international school where English was the primary language, and today can speak conversational Persian (Farsi) and some French as well. Most of my formative years were spent in or near the Boston area, where I completed high school at one of the most prestigious prep schools in the country, obtained my B.A. degree (psychology) from Boston College, and finally matriculated to a well-known law school from which I graduated with honors.

I am an avid reader who has a natural aptitude for literature, the humanities, history, math, science, and standardized tests. I am also blessed with terrific people skills and an ability to make the subject matter "sing off the page" for my tutoring students.

I enjoy working with students at all levels and bring a collaborative style that promotes their enthusiastic engagement in the learning process, sparks their intellectual curiosity, and applies approaches well-suited to their particular learning style. I have mastery of a number of subjects, including but not limited to: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, History, English, ESL, Homework Help and Study Skills, Psychology, Political Science, Legal Studies, and a variety of standardized tests such as the PSAT, SSAT, SAT, ACT and LSAT.

After graduating from law school with honors, I have been engaged in the active practice of law for more than 18 years. During that span of time I have been using the MS-Office Suite of software products – and in particular, the MS-Outlook program – since the mid-1990s at a variety of job settings. I am proficient with MS-Outlook not only for drafting and transmitting emails, but also for the ancillary purposes such as calendaring and time management, contacts info management, task management, etc. as enabled by the software. As a result of my familiarity with the entire MS-Office Suite and technical aspects of network administration, I am also familiar with most of the arcane formatting and network administration features of the software that ordinarily a user would not need to know. In view of the foregoing, I believe I am highly qualified to tutor students in regards to MS-Outlook.

With that context in mind, I have been using the MS-Office Suite of software products - in various versions and packages - since the mid 1990s at a variety of job settings. This has involved use of MS-Word and Excel on a nearly daily basis, following by use of Powerpoint and Access at least once a month during that time. Likewise, I have been using MS-Outlook as my email program of choice throughout that time. I believe I am quite proficient with these software products, and could teach/tutor others on how to use them. By the same token, I am extremely familiar with the Windows operating system.

I took and passed the Bar Exam for admission to the Massachusetts bar on my first attempt in 1995. I have been engaged in the active practice of law for more than 18 years. Having tutored in a variety of other subjects, and in view of the foregoing, I believe I am highly qualified to tutor in this specific subject.

I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring test-prep for the SAT, ACT, SSAT/ISEE, and other standardized tests - both in classroom and one-on-one settings. Over the past 6 years, I have not only received relevant tutoring certifications from two of the leading test-prep companies, but also have completed successfully numerous tutoring engagements for standardized test subjects. More recently, I have extended the scope of my teaching/tutoring to include the COOP/HSPT - based on the Barron's COOP/HSPT/TACHS, 3rd Edition book. I have found that the Math, Verbal Skills, Language Arts, Reading Comp domains of the COOP/HSPT have much in common with equivalent concepts on the other standardized tests, especially the SSAT/ISEE, and my transition to covering the COOP/HSPT has been seamless.

I have already been certified by Wyzant in relation to the SSAT, SAT and ACT exams. I am quite familiar with the ISEE and its (many) similarities and (few) differences in comparison to the SSAT. I have tutored many students in preparing for these and other standardized tests over the last several years.
