Hello! I'm Holger M. I have tutored English professionally for six years and taught English for three. I gained my experience at SUNY Orange, located in New York's Hudson Valley region. There I worked with a diverse body of students from all over the world. The courses in which I tutored students ranged from ESL to sophomore-level literature courses. I enjoy tutoring because I'm able to work with students individually and focus on their specific needs and cater a solution that works for them. Every student I worked with improved their writing, reading comprehension, and conversational skills, and of course, they also saw an increase in the grades they earned. This was one of my favorite parts of the job because I also enjoy seeing smiles on my students' faces when they succeed.
I've also taught developmental writing and basic college writing, focusing on essay structure and grammar. My method for teaching and tutoring is to give students a brief lesson and them have them write, basically applying what I just told them.
I hold a Master's in English, a Bachelor's in creative writing, and I'm also certified to teach English as a second language.
In addition, I hold a full-stack web development certificate. I earned the certificate through a bootcamp at the University of Minnesota. There, I became proficient in HTML, CSS, javaScript, jQuery, VS Code, Bootstrap, and several other web-development technologies, specializing in front-end technologies.
