Hi I’m Dan and I have been a professional chemist for over 15 years. I hold both a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a minor Mathematics from Cal State University San Bernardino and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Texas A&M where I specialized in organic chemistry. In addition to being a practicing cosmetic chemist I have taught organic chemistry lab at a local university for the last 10 years.

My tutoring experience reaches all the way back to my undergraduate studies where I worked in the university learning center helping other students navigate difficult concepts. I continued to occasionally tutor high school students after I left college and started my career. I have always enjoyed helping students understand the material they are presented no matter what their learning style. I believe that every student can be successful given the proper tools, time, and encouragement. My teaching style is aimed toward the student’s understanding and mastery of a concept. This most often involves working through actual examples (tests, homework, or made-up questions) with a student, teasing out the how and why of solving the problem and follow up questions on the material that often require taking the concept to the next level or demonstrate understanding. My strengths are organic and general chemistry, but I am capable of helping with most college level and high school level chemistry courses, including AP chemistry. I am also comfortable with Algebra I & II, and geometry.
