I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in math from the University of California Riverside to enrich my content knowledge in math. I received California Teaching Credential to enhance my teaching skills. I worked in a public school for few years and later I decided to become a full-time private tutor helping people in Arcadia, San Marino, and Pasadena. I have tutored many students in math over 12 years in middle/high school math and science including AP Calculus/Physics/Chemistry and SAT/ISEE preparation.
I help students clarify each concept by showing them how to do questions and then having them show me how to do questions. My class is discussion-based and I always want to hear students' ideas about questions. I provide extra practices focusing on students' weaknesses after each lesson.
For AP exams, SAT, and ISEE preparation, I design preparation plans based on students' diagnostic tests. I guide students through their questions in current progress, but I also provide students with progressive practices addressing their misconceptions.
Communication with parents is very important. I periodically show parents how their children are doing, and I also provide feedback on how they can motivate and encourage their children.

Math Help

My daughter had a single lesson with Steve and was efficiently able to comprehend and understand the concept of geometry that she couldn't do before. She states that he's extremely patient and great at explanation, and thanks to him. Steve is truly an outstanding tutor, and will schedule another session with him next week.

Immensely helpful

My daughter is taking Calculus AB and has done very well in the course up until her teacher all of a sudden started making the tests 10X more difficult. Steve helped her learn strategies to tackle more difficult problems and really boosted her confidence. I think we found her tutor for her remaining years of math. Thanks Steve!
