Hello! My name is José! I was a preschool teacher for 4 years. I taught children of all backgrounds and I taught most of my students how to speak the English language. I currently work as a Librarian. I have worked at libraries that service people of all ages and backgrounds. I get to help people translate and understand from English to Spanish. I truly love working with people from all over the world - languages fascinate me! I am fluent in English and Spanish. I have an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education! I also have a 120 hour TEFL certification from the TEFL ORG with a focus on Grammar & Language awareness.
I feel that I am a big kid at heart – I have a good sense of humor and I really enjoy reading, hiking and traveling! I am a firm believer in practice and as the saying goes, “practice makes perfect!” I like to give my students ample opportunities to speak and practice speaking English during my sessions. I have structured classes with my students with a focus on student talk. I like to keep my classes as conversational as possible. The more opportunities that you have to speak English, the better you will become at learning and speaking the English language! I enjoy using manipulatives and examples so as to teach. I think that pictures are a great resource. I also like to use music and toys to help teach. Most importantly, one on one as well as group talk is effective. I explore many different teaching strategies to meet the needs of my students.
I am so excited to teach English to any who desire to learn! Learning a new language is a gateway to endless possibilities! I look forward to helping all of my students meet their personal language goals! Thank you for your consideration!
